Dolphin stutters when new graphics are loaded

I noticed while playing Super Smash Bros. Melee that performing any action in-game that requires a new graphic to be loaded (for instance, using an attack that pulls out an item), the game stutters for a split second, presumably while loading the graphic into memory. Using the attack again causes no stutter. Could someone please explain to me exactly what loading routine is causing the stutter, and perhaps point me to the code in which it occurs? Thank you!

Dolphin is loading creating shaders from ingame material that are created only once. This stuttering, as you noticed, occurs only once when the shaders are first created.

The shader files are located in User/ShaderCache (not User/Shaders, those are different). I don't know the exact location in the code, but it shouldn't be too hard to find and removing it will likely cause no advantages, only disadvantages as the stuttering will occur every time you use the move.
These files can be deleted if there are problems, as corrupt shaders can crash Dolphin.

If you restart Dolphin and SSBM does it again lag on the items/actions you have already used? If not then you just have to use everything once and you will not get stutters again. I had to do it with Tatsunoko vs Capcom before. I think it has something to do with building cache.

I verified this by moving the shader cache and moving it back, and the stuttering returns when the shader cache is not there. Thanks, guys. Is there a good way to manually build the shader cache rather than just loading everything in the game?

No. That's not possible.
