Hello guys,

I have a little problem that I have been trying to troubleshoot for the past days and I need your help with it Sad

So to summarize my situation, I have been using dolphin for about a month. You can see my HTPC config in my profile, it is not very high, but I have been able to play without major slowdown New Super Mario Bros and some other games (Rayman, even zelda ss), with 2 players.

Recently I am not able to play NSMB anymore with 2 players. When the second wiimote is connected, the game start to get very slow. As soon as I disconnect the second, it is speedy again.
When I am checking performances, I see my CPU is used 100% (didn't check that before having the problem unfortunately), like 60% by dolphin and 40% by sytem.

I did quite a lot of change in hardware (I changed the HDD hosting host and dolphin, but I don't think it is slower according to reviews even it i5400rpm instead of 7200 I had before) and I updated GPU drivers (but get back to the old one and still same problem)

I am using toshiba stack for bluetooth with a branded class I adapter. I didn't do update concering bluetooth before the problem appears.

I tried lot of GPU drivers, tried different dolphin revs, but the problem seems to be there now forever Sad

I don't understand because it was working perfectly well before, for me it cannot be HDD issue, and it would be weird that it is GPU drivers as the game is full speed with one wiimote connected. Any idea welcome ! Smile

Subsidiary questions : if we forget this problem and imagine I want to run more powereating games like super mario galaxy, I understood the most important for dolphin is CPU, so if I update my CPU to let's say a core I3 or I5 around 3.2GHZ, will my GPU be sufficient, or will I need to change it too?
in addition i'd like to add that even if NSMB worked better with OpenGL before, I also tried DX9 plugin and still got the same slowdown when connecting second wiimote

Your CPU bottleneck your GPU . Get an Sandy Bridge i3 2100 or i5 2300 then (or i5 2500k if you're going to overclock for using LLE backend)

OK. Thanks a lot that's very good to know. I will update later when the prices drop down a little Smile

But for my current problem, that doesn't explain why the speed was OK 2 days ago, and is now so slow with 2 wiimotes. Any idea?

That's normal for multiplayer
NSMB on my Laptop :
1P : 60 FPS (fullspeed)
2P : 45 FPS (playable but it's slow)
3P : 30 FPS (not playable)
4P : 15 FPS (not playable)
Nothing you can do unless you get a powerful CPU

Hi admin89, thanks for answer but [/align]like I said, I was playing with good speed AND 2 players some days ago.
With the same CPU/GPU.

So I think there is a config problem now, but I don't find where: dolphin is still same version and same config, I updated GPU driver but put back the old ones. It looks linked to bluetooth. But I don't find any reason the speed was good (I has been able to play the first 4 world of NSMB with 2 players) and now suddendly it got slow as soon as I connect second wiimote, and fast again as soon as I shut it down.

whaou found solution... don't understand why I didn't need it before and I need to do it now for the game to be good speed again.

But what I needed to do is to set the priority of Dolphin to High. If anyone got similar issue Smile full speed again with 2 players!!

cheers
