I was wondering why when I run New Super Mario Bros. Wii using OpenGL it seems to run slower than when I run it with DirectX 9. I am using the official release 4.0.2 of the 64-bit version of Dolphin; my computer's specs are
Operating System:
Windows 7 x64
Processor/CPU:
AMD 8350 4Ghz
Video Card/GPU:
AMD Radeon HD 7870
Memory/RAM:
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB

If anyone can tell me anything relating to this issue, I would greatly appreciate it; thanks, in advance!

Update Dolphin. 4.0.2 is very old.

EDIT: One reason that DX9 can be faster is because it's more inaccurate, but regardless of the reason it's faster, you should get better speed with any backend if you use a newer version of Dolphin. (DX9 isn't available in newer versions anymore, though.)

And newer versions are MUCH faster than 4.0.2!

And they support spinning coins without EFB2RAM.

You're on AMD, so use Direct3D 11 once you update to 5.0. OpenGL is very slow on AMD GPUs.

Alternatively, update to a dev revision and use Vulkan, also a very good option for AMD GPUs.
