Y'know guys,

Prior to today, I had always been using only one type of controller for dolphin...my Xbox 360 controller.

But today, I received my new force feedback steering wheel in the mail, and wanted to see if it, along with my USB pedal set and USB Stick shifter(all separate PC hardware components) worked with Dolphin. I wanted to give F-ZeroGX a try so I opened Dolphin and went straight to the GC pad config menu.

To my pleasant surprise, all three of my driving components(wheel, pedals and shifter) were recognized! I was delighted to see dolphin flex its muscles in this department, and how it allowed me to configure or map a GC Pad or WiiMote function from ANY of my three controllers.

This meant that I could play F-ZeroGX the way I've always wanted to....using a high quality wheel and pedal set, and using paddle shifters to air slide left or right. My pedals are from CST and they are a three pedal set....gas, brake and clutch. Dolphin actually sees my clutch pedal and even allows me to use it as any GC pad function. So what I did was assign it to C Stick Up, and now I can use it to boost in F-Zero. Utterly fucking awesome! My wheel actually looks a bit like the one found on the real F-ZeroAX arcade cabinet. It's a Momo 27c butterfly style wheel complete with F1 paddle shifter and 6 buttons.

Playing F-Zero like this is a dream. I want to again give a very sincere thanks to those involved in developing the controller plugins for Dolphin, as well as all the Dolphin developers themselves(Skid, Lectrode, etc). You guys bring a lot of joy to those of us in the emu community. You are amazing and you deserve the highest praise!

Now, with that out of the way, I do have one small issue about the controller pad....

Dolphin's GC and Wii pad plugin's rumble setup menu does not recognize the force feedback motors on my steering wheel. It sees the wheel, but the little box below is simply blank. I have an ECCI 7000 FFB wheel that uses just the typical DirectX Input drivers and uses the standard Immersion Touchsense drivers found in all other FFB wheels like the Logitech ones. My wheel isn't anything unique as far as that area is concerned.

So is this normal? Does dolphin's rumble feature not support any FFB wheels? Or is it designed for Xbox 360 controller rumble only? Please let me know, as I would love to really FEEL the rumble from my wheel while playing F-ZeroGX. And yes, F-ZeroGX was one of the very few games that does in fact support force feedback wheels on the real Gamecube, so tehnically it should work.

Please let me know, thanks guys.

Through DirectInput, Dolphin currently only supports "Constant" force feedback rumble.
If your wheel requires one of the other force types, I could try to add support for it, but I would have no way to test it.

Hi Billiard. I was unaware you were the one who works on the pad plugins, that is cool. Good work my friend.

OK here's the deal...my wheel, as far as I know, requires other force types. I have found a list of the different force types that direct input supports. They are:

ConstantForce
CustomForce
Damper
Friction
Inertia
RampForce
SawtoothDown
SawtoothUp
Sine
Spring
Square
Triangle

Here is the website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms836846.aspx

Fortunately, it appears that site contains all the information you need to add these force types to dolphin. You may not be able to test them, but I will be more than happy to do it Smile

In the meantime, I am going to test my wheel with a couple Playstation emulators, which only supports Constant Force rumble, and see if it works. I'll let you know what happens Billiard.

I am aware of that website :p
I'll attempt to add in some other force types if you can verify that your device not supporting constant force is the issue.

Billiard I don't think my wheels supports constant...I tried epsxe and couldn't any rumble feedback using the constant motor option. However, as soon as I switched it to "sine". It worked. So could you please add the sine effect and then let me know so I can test it?

Preciate it man. If you can get this done and I get rumble on my wheel you will be the fucking MAN!!

And just to confirm, what I said is now 100% true...no feedback with constant but feedback with sine. Let me know and I'll do the testing Smile

Hi Billiard,

OK I have just tried both 6212 revisions from mamario(64bit and 32bit). Nothing has changed. In both the GC and Wiimote plugin menu, clicking the rumble sub-menu lets me choose my wheel, but it does not show any motors listed in the box below. It is still blank. Pressing "test" "select" or "OR" does nothing. Everything is still the same as last time. I noticed in your notes for the new build, you wrote that you added support for "ramp". But I didn't see that you mentioned "sine". Did you add the sine effect as well? Sine is what my wheel responded to when I was testing epsxe(the playstation emu). In epsxe, playing Ridge Racer Type 4 delivered all the proper force feedback behavior to my wheel under the sine option, but not under the constant option.

Let me know if there is anything I missed or did not do correctly with this new mamario 6212 build. I will be looking out for your reply in case you upload a newer one with the sine built in.
