Dolphin's Logo - Changes for RC3.0

I like the 3.0 release banner, but I still don't quite like the cube as the new Dolphin logo :/

hm, I kinda wonder how the logo would look like at 16x16, or whatever resolution is used for the list view in the windows explorer when browsing the Dolphin folder. Could you create a quick mockup for that maybe? Smile

In it's concept, you have 4 elements on the symbol, the cube for Gamecube, Dolphin as the name of the emulator, the triangle for Triforce, and the disc? You've based your design on the cube trying to fill it's faces but I think it gets somewhat complicated, I would go for something simpler. The text shouldn't be all in capital letters and the font is too condensed and heavy. The black box around it, is it really necessary? Personally I "like" the old symbol, even with some flaws it could get better with some changes.

Sorry for the heavy criticism, hope I don't get misunderstood, I'm just questioning if the way this logo is getting shaped is the best one. My suggestion would be simplicity.

Looks good. May want to take the POV higher to show a bit more of the top, but all the logos look great and credit is due all around to the creators.

Oh, the "banner and box" was just for showoff Tongue

... the icon would be only the cube.

The Dolphin is because of the prototype name of the Gamecube, same happens with the Disc (the disc was part of the "Revolution" logo), and the triangle is a representation of the Triforce logo.

Its mean to be simple, its just a cube after all Tongue

I may change the order of each face later. (but since this emulator is mostly a Gamecube/Wii, I thought that the front faces should use the "main" logos).

Here is the icon with different faces/same, and alone (like it should be)

I don't like to repeat myself, but I still think it'd look better if the cube was rotated by 15° or 30° around the y-axis.. Tongue

(so that the dolphin logo gets more attention).
Idk how much work it'd be for you to recreate the icon that way.

I think NeoBrain got a good point. Dolphin icon needs to be focused more than any other icons. Triforce icon is looking out of the set - it's not filled, other icons are filled.

I feel icon Dolphin needs an eye to be alive. In that case Triforce icon can have small triangular hole in it. All icons will have hole in them.
