Hi guys,

just wanted to bring something to your attention, which should be documented somewhere but isn't. Could be I was a "unique" case, but as there was no information anywhere to help me, and I had to do it myself I thought it best putting here should someone come across the same.

Ok so, attempting to get the best performance possible for Rogue Squadron 2 when using Dolphin version 40.7429 (as this was stated by another user to be an excellent build for this game), I then decided to try a more recent release "4.0-7723" to see if there was more improvements regard performance and wondering if the targeting computer was fixed when using dual core (wish someone would fix this Sad !).

So to be safe against conflicts etc, I deleted the main root folder of Dolphin on my C drive, as well as the folder created in documents under user where the GC memory cards are etc.

So my system should be free of everything Dolphin related yes? Like MAME or another emulator there's no installer so an uninstall is not needed etc.

So here's the question, why then when I try a new version if Dolphin (no matter the build) is the new raw memory card corrupt stating the card you have is formatted for use in a different region (I'm not using an old one and trying to reuse it, I deleted everything, haven't played anything enough to want to keep a save, and the region shouldn't be an issue as the rip of Rogue Squadron has never changed it's always been a Europe version), and the games running at double speed. The audio is running way too fast and the game's animations are on fast forward likewise.

The audio and animations basically are running as if frame cap is off without v sync and your frames are in the hundreds etc. No setting you do in Dolphin corrects this, and it's with every game.

After trying a few of the recent builds and then deleting them fully, I even went back to the initial build I was using by downloading it again (version 40.7429) and the memory card corruption (even though the emulator it's self just created this not me) and game at double speed issue persist no matter what setting.

I've had to go through the registry (after deleting everything Dolphin related) and cherry pick anything with dolphin in it's string.

Only after doing this and using version 40.7429 did the game speed go back to normal, but the corrupted memory card issue persist when starting the game.

TLDR if there's no installer, why am I having to go through my registry to clean up files from a previous version to stop errors guys? There's no heads up in any of your info or FAQ's this may be an issue or a factor and just what is Dolphin putting in the registry anyway???

These are direct exec files from a folder no? Once the folders relating to dolphin are removed that should be it, shouldn't it?

Some clarification on this would be great, as people not familiar with searching through a registry on their PC could get this issue with your emulator and not have a clue what's needed to resolve it.

It took me a few hours messing to finally think of purging my registry to solve this.

All downloads have come direct from yourselves I will also confirm: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ and not from a third party.

Either I am the first to ever have this issue, or not many people are removing the Dolphin folder created in Windows user documents between trying builds, to come across this issue.

Not a very happy bunny!  Undecided

Dolphin does not create any registry values. All the global user directory does is check if a registry value exists (which you have to add!) and if it does Dolphin will not use a global user directory.

Can you provide some more information?

*What is the GameID of the game?
*What is the region of most of your games?
*Are you using a memory card folder?

I had a single Dolphin build on my PC at a time. Only after cleaning the registry of Dolphin (which were numerous) did a build not have the issues mentioned. I had not added any custom registry strings for this game, nor would I attempt to. Why would I? What purpose would that serve?

The Registry strings Dolphin was in were all over the place, some in windows common apps (which shouldn't be a problem) and others I didn't focus on too much as I was deleting them asap.

I'm not sure what else I can convey regarding this, only it took this action to stop the GC games behavior I've stated previous. Although every Dolphin build I now use, not one gives me a usable memory card which I can format from starting Rogue Leader 2 (as it did the first time I used it after a long break few days ago).

I have to load up Mario Sunshine (also Europe version with Game ID GMSP01)  which states the new raw mem' card is corrupt, so I format it in game to solve the issue. Mario Sunshine also suffered the double speed issue before registry purge, and not after.

I'm using Windows 8.1 and have Dolphin on a solid state 120g drive. I have a clean PC with ESET Smart Security installed.

No other emulators or programs have any issues to think there's an issue with my O.S. or anything else.

The region for both games is Europe, the memory card is the default raw Europe which Dolphin creates its self (or should) on the first run.

I stated all this in my initial post, which is why I said "I'm not sure what else I can convey regarding this".

I repeated what I literally did the first time I installed Dolphin a few days ago and loaded up Rogue Squadron, when I experienced the corrupt memory card and game issues.

As you state Dolphin shouldn't add anything to the registry, should have no memory of former builds or settings, and it creates it's own folder for the GC cards as you are no doubt fully aware.  What I have experienced is contrary to this, and I would ask someone to at least try and re create the same scenario with the recent build of Dolphin :4.0-772 before we nitpick my system any further (my CPU, GPU, O.S. and what ever else are stated on my profile)?

Games Id of Rogue Squadron II  is GSWP64

Is this an investigation of a support nature, or putting out a fire?
