Hi there,

Isn't really a post for help but,

I have downloaded this emulator a few days ago and am playing the zelda game.
It is playing %90 ok.
I'v had no crashes, the graphics are perfect, and although people on here say theres somthing wrong with the sound i havnt had a problem.

People say that they are playing the game at full 30fps on most areas without lag and only get lag when there in big areas.
I seem to get lag everywhere, sort of. I can be in a small map area and it starts lagging for about 30 seconds then stops. it will stop even though im in the same place doing the same thing. When it stops I can play again for probably 5 mins. Well it's barable anayway.

Now here's my question. When the games running and I hit task manager up, the game seems to be only using 500mb of ram and between 70 - 80 percent of cpu.
Is there any settings I could set that will allow dolphin to utilise more, I have 4gb of 1066 and 1gb on my graphics card.
I do understand that emulating games does rely more on the cpu than ram but its just that one of the setting recomended to play zelda is enable EFB copy to texture as apposed to enable EFB copy to ram.
I think the reason for this setting is that if you used the latter, the mini map in the game disapears.
Should using EFB to ram be quicker?
Also are there any settings that will get dolphin using more ram but without at the same time using more cpu.

sounds like something is on your computer that shouldn't be on it.

install "spybot S&D" (spyware/malware/scareware scanner), let it update itself and run it.

Well I already have spybot and it says I'm clean as a whistle.
Havn't done a virus scan in a while so I'm just checking avast.

If anyone who reads this dosn't mind. Could you run a game on your dolphin and hit task manager up when your in windowed mode and see how much ram your using while playing on dolphin.
I want to see if dolphin.exe is using roughly the same as mine

Dual Core enabled? What kind of CPU do you use - Doplhin may not be using both cores at 100% simultaneously.

Also Twilight Princess (or wind waker?) is still quite buggy and there can be unpredicted effects - try different games and see how they work.

I have a AMD Duel Core 7750. Its the black edition and over clocked to 3.0
I can overclock it further to 3.3 but i dont like to strain it too much.

Duel core enabled? I think so. Only thing i know about this comp that bugs me a bit is its on x86 xp and the page file makes my 4gb of ram cut to 3.25

Have considered geting x64 xp but had a look on a few forums and people said it wouldnt give a big speed increase anyway.

Depends on what you want to do with a OS that has x64 instruction set. Generally, native 64-bit code will be much more efficient and run faster than code written for x32. Dolphin is one of the few useful apps out there that is regularly compiled in 64-bit, you will definitely see performance increase.

For PC gaming, 64 bit OS doesn't really make any difference, because nearly all games are coded and optimized for 32 bit systems and probably will be at least until it's no longer used in the majority of today's consumer rigs. Gaming benchmarks though like 3d mark will show an increase.

Some apps can even be slower when using the 64-bit version. Sadly this is an issue because some programmers are not motivated to create coherent code for the 32-bit counterpart and neglect optimization. The few applications that are well written will see 5-10% increases in performance.

As you can see, it's not a holy grail that instantly makes everything faster (and the test was made on vista, windows 7 will also add some positive performance). Properly coded apps like 3dmark will show the differences honestly without bias.

"Speed" of applications _only_ depends on how well it's coded in the first place. The instruction set itself is irrelevant if the code is crappy.

OK , thats pretty much what I read, "it depends on the app".
I have mostly been pc gaming and like you said I wouldnt see much difference.
I never knew I'd be better off for this emulator though.
Well I'l see if mr rapidshare has any bargains going on some x64 windows.
Might install unix. I have a copy of backtrack4 somewher from when I was hacking wireless routers. I'l check to see if its x64 first I can't remember.
I think I remember seeing some dolphin builds packaged in tarballs.
Yeah it's on the synaptic package manger.
I'l probably have a nightmare getting my 3d going on unix. Was a pain last time.

Thanks for advice
