It isn't perfect, just fyi, there were time constraints and limitations to reshade that kept me from dialing it in 100%. But it's close!

I finally guessed one! Big Grin

I wasn't entirely sure, really, but I noticed that one of those headers was a bit more 'glowy' than the other and I know that's usually a result of bloom, so...

Myself I usually disable bloom when I can, since in a lot of games it decreases visibility.

I am a big fan of the new tooltips, though I do think a small fade in and out (50ms?) would make it a bit less jarring.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a progress report after so many weeks of no updates to Dolphin at all, but I was puzzled to find that tooltips weren’t working for me.

Then I realized that Dolphin has stopped updating for me—I can select the Check for Updates option in the Help menu, but it always tells me that I’m running the latest version available on my update track. (I have always run a dev version, just Dolphin started telling me a few weeks ago there were no updates available to it.)

So I manually updated by downloading the newest dev version from the website, and the tooltips do indeed look nice.

Unfortunately the newer versions don’t update for me either—I tried the dev version one behind current, and it still tells me there are no updates available on my update track. I check Windows Firewall and nothing looked amiss; I even manually added rules allowing Dolphin through, but no luck.

Nice to see a progress report, though—thanks, guys!

Agree completely. Unfortunately, the only way I could see to do a fade in / fade out (or other alpha) was to make the tooltips mini windows (with "no frame"). That caused them to request focus and other things which I got around but it still felt very hacky. I decided to let some Qt guru figure that out Smile

I didn't realize until this article that the debug blocks were also fixed in the Switch port of SMS. Very good to know.

Also congrats on the better tooltips @iwubcode

There seems to be a significant amount of emphasis on the height of the graphics configuration UI being troublesome, what was bad about moving the info box to be beside the UI? Most displays are at least 16:9 now. Also I'd have rathered dark themed tooltips for the dark theme and light themed tooltips for the light theme... I guess the theming of tooltips could be made a config file option or something for those that want to tweak it.

yes it should work now Redmigamer, all changes mentioned are typically already incorporated in to Dolphin development releases.

We talked about that. For me personally, it is less about the position of the description box and more about the fact it exists at all. Adding explanation to various settings is not easy when you have to take UI layout into consideration. I've got some things in the pipe, where UI space is a luxury for instance.

As mentioned in the blog post, there is a low contrast option. That does exactly what you want (dark on dark or light on light). It is controlled via an ini option.
