Okay so if I bought this:

Intel Core i5-2500K, 4 x 3.30GHz,
Club 3D Radeon HD 6850, 1024MB
4 GB RAM
Windows 7

Would I be able to play at least all GC and WiiWare games at normal speed (60fps all the time)?

Hello, I just 'd like to report a very satisfying upgrade I just did :

I had a little system on AM2+ : athlon 5200 on a gigabyte 780G mATX motherboard : GA-MA78M-UD2H which could run wii or gamecube game but in slow motion only...

I checked the gigabyte website for CPU compatibility.

And I bought an AM3 Phenom ii X4 955 black edition for less than 100 euros.

Flashed my BIOS so that its compatible, installed the CPU, cranked up the multiplier to x19 to 3.8ghz in the bios and voilà, everything is smooth 60fps everywhere.

with default frequency (3.2 ghz) there are slowdowns so an overclock is needed.

But 3.8ghz with stock cooler is very easy to obtain on a phenom ii X4 955 / 965 or X2 555 with most am2/am3 motherboard with no overclocking knowledge except press del to go to setup.

So if you've got an old (2008) amd motherboard you may still upgrade to a quite powerfull setup.

Congratulations to that upgrade and how lucky you were with the Bios update fixing it so you could. Nice one!

Alright, I have already convinced myself toward buying myself a PC. Can anyone put together a great dolphin PC for say 800? I have been trying to put together the best deal myself however I don't know how much I should cap myself at for each individual part.

As far as CPUs go I have been convinced on the 2500k. That is already $215 or so; and for GPU I was leaning toward 5770... however a few posts back a member was talking about the Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme. Then from here I am lost... Motherboard, RAM, Power... I would like to put 2 hard drives in RAID 0 because I don't want to fork out money for an SSD. I would probably need a cooler for over clocking. (If it is necessary for running Wii Games)
As far as Windows is concerned I am covered, so you don't have to take the price of Windows into consideration when putting something together.

go for Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme if you can get one, crazy cheap but limited editon.
you don't need to OC, stock work great with wii and gamecube game, even using LLE.

but if you really want to OC, get better cooling. hyper 212+ is good, and cheap Smile i use this cooler myself, quite satisfied.
considering i life on tropical country, 36-37 degree celcius cpu core temp on normal usage and rarely goes beyon 45 degree on gaming (or 50 on intense cpu usage like emulator), sure is cool ^_^

for PSU, atleast get 550W and make sure it's pure power.
mobo, if you want to overclock (seriously with K series, you should). get motherboard with with P67 chip, or z68 (tend to be much expensive) to get OC capability.
asus P8P67 pro, asrock p67 extreme4 (that i use), both are nice andaffordable for a premium board (since you're low on budget)

ram, get 1600MHZ 4GB kit, geil ripjaw would be nice

for hdd, get any lower speed sata 3. i use 2 caviar blue sata3.
lol, 2x 500GB blue are cheaper than 1 TB black, and on raid0, is way faster than black Smile

go for i5 2410m 2.3ghz dualcore
this is sandy bridge based core i5. faster than the rets, and higher turbo boost ratio

new super mario bros should be okay.
i finish it on my core i5 430M (that is slower than anything in that list)

can't really say about the rest, sinc ei don't have the game.
