great, thanks guys. hey this question is kind of noobish, but if the CPU or GPU have insignificant power would this make the performance bad in some sort of way?

That means precisely jack shit. I want a psu with good reliable components. Most of the reviews are "meh, it works so I can't complain". A 730 watt psu for $60 screams shitty components.

@thegamer

No. It will just be unstable and/or the system will power off.

I use a PSU from OCZ and I'm really satisfied with what that company have produced.
I'll definitely buy a OCZ PSU for the next build upgrade.
It's something I really recommend, I use a modular one and love it, only use the cables I need.

Yeah, I went with the Corsair 650TX just because of the price, but since I'm going for a larget HTPC case to fit the 460GTX I'm not going to have to worry too much - but a modular PSU is great nonetheless.

This weekend I'll try to get a vid / pics of me assembling things onto the mobo. After that it's just saving up / putting it all in the case@ Big Grin

Well here we go! I had some time to get a head start on the pre-case build this morning, just to make sure it'll boot and run and to make sure there's no DOA parts or anything:

More coming soon, and hopefully the finished build by the end of the month or so, depending on how much I can save.

Well I can report that the build is ready for the case. I hooked it up to the PSU, and everything was humming along (and about as quiet as my own breathing, really can't believe how quiet all three fans were)

All 8GBs registered, GPU running fine, and out of the box I got 3.4 Ghz, and with some work, I can probably get it up to 4.5 Ghz easy.

I ordered the Lian Li case today, and the ARCTIC COOLING ACFZ13 fan as well. Should be able to build it later next week, and I'm uploading the vid I took of the initial boot test.
