as you read the reviews it is proven to be one of the best since 2011

this is the one i have it was around $250 now they drop the price a little : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072&cm_re=i5-2500k-_-19-115-072-_-Product Smile

pc gaming : man this CPU is sick fast... i can play lost space 2, battlefield 2,cod black ops, homefront, crysis 1,2, and metro 2033 etc.. at 60+ fps it never dips below 60 fps its scary Idea

emulation : plays every game on Nintendo Wii max out settings with ease, funny thing it was it can run 2 thats right count them 2 dolphin emulations at once in a multi task test. when i seen this i got on my knees and bow down to it lol, this beastly CPU is one of the best i have ever buy no doubt. it cost me $250 ( sacrifice 1 bill ) but eventually every thing work out good and it was well worth it. if any one reads this BUY this processor now! you may not have a chance to wait for the prices to drop, they are selling out of stores quick!

Well it's settled then - I'll buy it, and snatch up that Win 7 HP deal after work tonight Big Grin

After that, I just wait for it and my 460GTX to come in, and then see if we can fit it all on the mobo, then get the case and we're in business.

Can't wait, thanks for all the help guys!

So, to recap:

ASUS PG87-M MicroATX Motherboard
Intel i5-2500k Sandy Bridge Processor
60GB OCZ Vertex II SSD
3TB Hitachi Deskstar 5400RPM HDD
MSI GTX460 GPU
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 RAM
Corsair 650TX PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium

And hopefully soon, a TV Tuner and the Nice Case to put it all in.
Build Pics / Vids will be as soon as I get it all together and have the time to build it Big Grin

Yeah the case part is always the hardest, you don't want to buy the first one available.
See it at as you would buy a house, look and judge thereafter.
If you have a chance, visit a computer store that sells computer cases and let them show you some, that's what I always do.

I live in a small town with no good computer stores, sadly. However, I think I'm either going to go with this antec case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129054

or this lian-li case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112228

The Antec looks like such a close fit with the Cyclone GTX460, I'll have to check the standing height of it when I hook everything up to the mobo sometime this week. It does have an IR remote and the nice led display and volume knob on the front.

The Lian Li case is a beast of an HTPC case though - only 10 pounds vs. the Antec's 20, nice compartmentalized areas for PSU, etc, and screw on handles. But, I heard it's not as heat efficient, and the deeper area is a bit more than I need. If only I could take the features of the Antec and the height of the Lian-Li XD

Holy crap you're right XD

I'm going for more storage since mine's doubling as a HTPC, and hence the smaller mobo. Jeez that's a huge CPU cooler though - what's your temps? I'm thinking of either the stock cooler, or these two for the i5, which do you think would be better for a HTPC?

No no Smile the Sandy Bridge deserves Water cooling, if you have any possibility go with Water cooling.
I use a great one from Corsair, the H50.

But if you ask me the Cooler Master looked better but the Arctic cooling isn't bad either.
