Bad word Big Grin

I mean dumps and copies of games I've owned over the years, but I'll edit it all the same. :p

Still though, is the difference in RPM between 5400 and 7200 enough to warrant me spending 30$ more on a 2TB drive instead of getting that 3TB Hitachi?

I would not want a 5400 that is like a laptop hard drive I hate those too s-l-o-w

Well yeah but for simply storing / reading files would it be that bad? I'm planning on having a SSD for my OS / Programs, and Dolphin would be on that while the game files would be on the other drive.

Could i run most most games well on this laptop?:

Intel® Core™ i5-480M Processor ( 2.66GHz 1066MHz 3MB )
Intel HD Graphics
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz

This laptop is on sale for $600. I know the processor is good enough but im not sure about the graphics card. Should i spend extra money and get a laptop with a dedicated ATI or Nvidia card?

You can't run Dolphin emu on Intel HD , it's terribly slow
Nvidia GT 540M is the best GPU atm , add 100$ more you will have the same laptop as mine

Hey admin89, will the Nvidia GTX 460 do the trick for Dolphin? Just want to make sure before I spend the money on it for my build.

Yes, Nvidia GTX 460 is overkill for dolphin :
1080p
Anisotropic filter : 16x
Anti-alias : 4x
EFB scale : 2x or 3x
Edit : As long as your CPU is strong enough to keep up with GTX 460

Going with the i5 2500K for the CPU. And to be honest, I can't wait to get this build up and running. I only need the mobo, cpu, gpu, and case, and I can start building it. Big Grin

*Edit*

Stupid question maybe, but would there really be a performance difference between these two cards?

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-N460GTX-Cyclone768D5-OC-Overclocked/dp/B003V8B4QM/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1W7799KQNY2&colid=2E5IJ2A29LSO5

they're both MSI 460GTX cards, but one is smaller and quieter judging by reviews, not to mention that price is tough to beat. If I could get away with the smaller one, that'd be great.

The smaller one is fine , adding more fan to keep the temp under 50C - 122 F

How well will a Nvidia Geforce GT 440 1GB, an AMD Phenom II 955 3.2 GHz, and 8 GBs of DD3 1333 MHz RAM work?

Not much even if you overclock that CPU

Dolphin Benchmark :
Phenom = Intel Dual Core < Core 2 duo /Core 2 Quad << i3/i5/i7 << sandy bridge

This should be updated monthly haha. I'm gonna assume people just discuss it in replies, that's why it's still at the top of the thread list with 60 pages?
Rest in power, RachelB.
