Maybe the reason is a HUGE 42" TV? 
But yeah, you can use a 2-pins S/PDIF cable from your sound card to your video card, and then use a DVI-HDMI cable to your TV in your 2nd DVI or HDMI connector. You'll have picture AND sound coming from your TV speakers.
You can even use your TV as a 2nd monitor that way!
