Dolphin PC buying guide

So I got to thinking that I need a new computer. I've been dealing with a old desktop thats about 3 years outdated, and last year got a lappy for college. Currently been using the lappy, specs are:

Windows 7 64bit
Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4GHz
4GB DDR3 Ram (7/7/7/20 clocks)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670
500GB HDD, 2TB External

Now the above is... quite sad imo. Mobility stuff really kills me D: Anyways, onto the new build:

Intel i7 920 (Plan on OCing)
ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard
6GB DDR3 (2GB x3)
XFX Radeon HD 5830 (1GB 256-bit DDR5)
Rosewill 630W Power Supply
Thermal U120eXtrem
some Arctic Silver 7

Thats what I got planned for my next computer. Now, since I won't have the cash till the end of summer, I plan on getting it then. So I want to ask, should I stick with this build, or is there anything thats going to be ground breaking coming out soon? Also, I plan on snagging a i7 920 asap, as its being phased out apparently.

See anything wrong with this build? I havn't built a computer in a while, so I might be just a bit off >.< And my overclockin skills are sub-par, but I think I should be able to get a nice clock with what I got.

Anyways any opinions on this would be nice ^^ Thanks.

If you're able to spend a bit more the Radeon HD5850 would be very nice!
It's much faster than HD5830 and needs less power. Wink

He's correct....and try to grab a thuban...they are just awesome, especially in OCing...easy 4 GHz for you @ $300...(if you have... Tongue

Thanks, I don't think i'll go with the thuban, but I might change my mind by then. Anyways, I forgot to throw the Arctic Silver 5 up there, but im debating if I should use the 7 (For chipset heatsinks). This way I might be able to push it a little further :p But then again im not to familiar with the P6T, and was thinking if I should replace any of the chipset heatsinks (NB/SB/Mosfet). Any advice to anyone with the P6T Deluxe would be nice ^^ Else I'll just look into a bit more. I'm just debating how far I should push it, and whats really needed to get it at a stable 4.0ghz or a little higher than that :p

Go for i7 930 not 920 (same price , sometimes cheaper ^^) , you can go 4.2 Ghz easy
I'll go for a Gygabite UD5A , not ASUS (for ocing nicely if you are no pro at doing this )
And a Radeon 5850 or 2 x 5770 . 5830 is real bad.
At least If youre looking for some good thermal paste ,Noctua is the best I've ever tried !

You can get these advantages of using thuban...:-
1. It's a black edition, so you can unlock core multiplier, so you can basically have 4 GHz normal speed...You can squeeze more by OCing HT link(FSB) and Core speed
2. You get six cores, plus you get Turboboost...(can function at par with 4 cores, is more expandable with future)
3. Great compatibility - You can get atleast 170 models of MB currently supporting Thuban X6....(especially 1090T)
4. BUDGET.....That I forgot....is really cheap...

If he uses the pc just for dolphin or internet the i7 would be much better! An Thuban @4 GHz is slower than a 3,x GHz i7 if you use dolphin. Wink

That's a really informative link, thanks. Didn't realize the difference in power consumption was so great.
