Unlike it's an Emulator and not a typical Windows app, I would say that you can give it a try. Personally I think an CPU Upgrade wouldn't hurt unless you have the patience to wait for more optimazed builds. Athlon 64's and even Dualcores pendants of that Generation have a way lower performance per MHz as their C2D/i5/i7/Phenom brothers.
Rig:

i7 920 @ 4-GHz
6GB DDR3
GeForce GTX570
BenQ 24" LCD
Win7 x64

The Phenom you think about isn't a bad CPU at all but, in my opinion the best bang for the buck is the core I5 750 cause it's per MHz performance is about 25% over an equivalent Phenom II with the same MHz. Example: i5 750 performance with it's 2.66-GHz is in about the same level as a Phenom II @ 3.3GHz. Also the I5 750 has a Turbo Mode which will clock the CPU to 3.2GHz when the app of your choice is just using 2 Cores and Dolphin is a Dualcore app Smile (4 Core will make the CPU to clock to 2.8GHz) This could make the difference between playable and stuttering as long as your favourite Game is CPU bound. Talking about Emulation everything is kind of CPU bound Smile ... if you don't want to leave your Socket and you want to get an "cheap" upgrade, get the Phenom ! There's also a chance in overclocking your new CPU to about 3.6GHz with adequate cooling and some knowledge. It won't be as fast as the i5 but you will still have some fun with it!

I know it that i5/i7 are better but I dont want to change my motherboard couse it will be too expensive for me. Anyway thx for everything what u wrote. Wink

The HD 5770 is a better card. With the right settings, that rig should run most game very well.

Hello, I recently discovered Dolphin and it's a great emulator. I have tried playing a few games(for the wii) and have been experiencing slowdowns and stuttering. So I've decided to upgrade my computer, the problem is I have no idea what I should get. This is what I have now:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2,39GHz
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO
RAM: 2,00Gb
OS: Windows XP 32bit

What need to be replaced in order to make wii games like SMG2, Silent Hill and SPM run ok? I cant buy the most expensive stuff due to lack of money.
I appreciate any help i can get! Thanks
