i changed from x1900xt to 4870 and it didn't increased performance by much.

from 4850 to 285gtx (fastest available, dualgpu doesn't work with dolphin) is an even much smaller step.

overclocking my cpu from 2,4 to 3ghz on the other side resulted in much more performance.

hmm.. what do you think is the safest too overclock my cpu to without having to get a new cooling system installed? I've never done this so of course I need to research this and maybe talk to my neighbor who does this. I just want to get an idea of up to what speed I can overclock my cpu and still be reasonably safe. Also, Is it more difficult to overclock i7?

you should not overclock with stock cooling at all, i7 are getting pretty hot already.

get a decent air cooler and go up to 3.6-3,8ghz, that should be possible even if you have not done this before (there are guides on how to do)

result will be 30-40% more fps.

better gpu on the other hand maybe results in 0-5% more fps.

Hi , I was seeing some notebooks because my dad want a notebook. So , I was searching for a notebook that can handle ( <-- is correct that word???) and , after ruling out some of them ( Intel integrated grfx card D: ) I found an HP notebook that maybe can run dolphin , but I need someone opinion :

-AMD Athlon™ X2 Dual-Core QL-65 ( 2 CPUs ) ~2.1 Ghz
-ATI Raedon HD 3200 Graphics
-3GB Ram
-Windows Vista ( Home Basic - I think 32 bit version )
MB : MSI Z68A-GD80
CPU : Intel Core i7 2600k @ 3.4 GHz (stock clock)
Gfx : ATI Raedon HD 6850
Ram : 4 GB DDR3-1333
OS : Windows XP x86

GTX 260 core 216 = enthusiast. the price may be budget affordable right now, but really, he brings up crysis? crysis isn't even valid. try any other game and a GTX 260 would get 'em. 2 GTX 295s struggle with crysis. these days, cards are past the tech of the games today. an 8800gt is still murderin'. now a gts 250? thats really a 9800gtx+ renamed so THAT is mainstream as it has no GT200b chip

Sorry but thats not powerful enough. The cpu is too weak and the radeon 3200 is an onboard card(it can be overclocked pretty good for about a 20% boost in performance). Ill be on the unofficial irc later and I could help you more

well he is using a 2ghz c2d at the moment and probably can exspect nearly the same performance with 2,1ghz turion x2.

hd3200 is ok, you just have to live with low res.

got a 2,5ghz athlon x2 with a hd3200 and it runs pretty much the same as my 2,4ghz c2d with 4870 in native resolution.

of course one could not really recommend using a low clocked turion for dolphin. i'd go for some high clocked c2d instead.

for example, there are quiet a few books out there for low money with p8700(2,5ghz c2d with only 25W) and decent graphics card.

like the toshiba L500 with P8700 and ati 4650(which is equal to old high end 3800 series) for less then 1000$.

don't go with the crappy thermaltake. Thermalright is much better.

I live in Chile, Here the most of notebooks and netbook come with intel atom proccessors or celeron proccessors ( puaj) and the only one that can run dolphin was that ( but I still searching)

And here everything is more expensive because the fucking tags, tell me the price of something there and I can tell you how is the price here

CPU Core i7-965 Extreme 3.2 GHz Box (1366) here 1.287 usd
MB : MSI Z68A-GD80
