none of them. Get a megahalems, a true or a mugen 2.

it's D0. E0 is for wolfdale e8XXX series.

define, "I have 1250 watts of power" psu? That means nothing. If it's some thermaltake cooling, that's crap too.
Bring bclk to 200, cpu multi to 20, uncore, memory and qpi to lowest. (uncore multi should be at least twice memory) turn off turbo.

I dare you to increase voltage (>0.3) on a cpu without even touching the clock speeds, come back in 6 months and tell us if it's still working.

This, exactly this. 0.3 I don't think will break it too much, 0.4 probably will.

If the Voltage increases too much your CPU would say buh bye despite -20C cooling. The reason its mainly about cooling is because usually temperatures are the first thing to go.

OCing isn't that difficult. Just that there are limits.

It doesn't matter how much power you have. If you fry the cpu through overvoltage or the motherboard won't post beyond a certain fsb limit you'll see that OC'ing to extreme limits is very difficult.

I have a C2D E8500. I didn't overclock it, but Dolphin is already quite fast (almost 60 fps sometimes in MKWii).
I don't think overclocking is difficult, but what would annoy me is that overclocking has to be done in the BIOS,
and therefore you have to continually reboot between the tests.

it took me a few hours to find the best settings for my overclock, but I haven't touched it since, and it's been 2 years now already (amd x2 (65w edition) from 2.6ghz to 3.2ghz)

do you have any common sense? If you want to run passive, temps will suffer, but if you add a fan, it'll help.

I have the following specs, and feel that the graphics card may be holding me back from experiencing the full potential of my system. Do you guys think upgrading the graphics card would make a huge difference? If so, what would you recommend (I hear nvidia is the best option, not sure which nvidia card would result in a noticable difference)?

HP Pavilion Elite e9180t customizable Desktop PC
# Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) and will be getting Windows 7 through free upgrade
# • Intel® Core™ i7-920 processor (2.66GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache with QPI Technology)
# • 8GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs]
# • 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]

Thank you!

for dolphin ? no.

i changed from x1900xt to 4870 and it didn't increased performance by much.

from 4850 to 285gtx (fastest available, dualgpu doesn't work with dolphin) is an even much smaller step.

overclocking my cpu from 2,4 to 3ghz on the other side resulted in much more performance.
