G2k maybe go for the x2a rather then at least everything is pre-installed.

Yeah that is a great setup, very overclockable. I really think more than 4gb ram is a total waste unless you do heavy rendering or something. But you will want to upgrade the gfx if you want to play 'real' PC games.

Not really, some games do make some memory release operations to keep their memory usage under the limit of 2gb for x86 OS, so 2-4gb ram are good enough for gamers.

But I know few cases where disabling that memory release function on x64 systems with 4gb ram or more (playing in huge maps specially) lead to absolutely no stuttering and almost null loading times.
It's one's choice after all.

Really? Give an example, i'm interested Smile I never touch more than 3gb of my memory. And I saw a recent tech article that showed minimal gains beyond 4gb on ANY system.

Just think of any huge uni-map game with humongous amounts of hi-res textures. Crysis, Gothic 3 (this one isn't that new, but it's memory consumption is just ridiculous)... unfortunately, due to crappy ports from consoles and the preference of 32 bit systems, you'll find very few games like these, even in the upcoming years. That's not you know everything but I figured this is what is important.
YOu might be thinking why the heck does he have an 8800GTS?? Well I originally was going to get two GTX 295's in SLI mode but I heard that the next gen of graphics cards will be coming soon. I'm going to wait for those!

Anywho, do you think I will be able to run most dolphin games pretty well? This is serious I don't know how well the i7 works for dolphin. I've heard dual cores work best and so on.

what means most to you ?

50% ?
70% ?
90% ?

anyway, you still will have (acceptable) slowdowns in many games. some games will remain unplayable.
Dolphin with Quadcore Support soon ? ....Attention : knowledge inside
