Had wandered what was happenig lately on rpi4 front.
I found some new? linux Batocera distribution for rpi4 especially. It has emulator cores preinstalled. No Dolphin emulator yet. But it runs Atomi Sammy game like fullspeed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcXGTThSefA and other arcade Naomi 1 games which is quite a thing. PS. Atomi game is Dolphin so no offtopic 07-24-2020, 04:19 PM

Yes you could in native resolution . Check out this video on YouTube https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l4TyYU9Xhcs 10-15-2020, 09:32 AM
Seems like Vulkan is worth a try now: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n...-Mesa-20.3
I got the Mesa merged testing version of Vulkan installed and tested out Dolphin which immediately seen it as a valid Graphics back end.
In it's current state on a relatively new version of Dolphin (recompiled it about a week ago) it actually runs worse than OpenGL. I tried 2 games and both flicker/stutter severely. The first game I tried didn't work in OpenGLES and it exhibits the same issue of not rendering backgrounds/geometry only 2d elements. The second game which did work on OpenGLES has severe screen flickering to the point of unplayability in addition to a lower average fps. 11-16-2020, 01:06 AM
I've been using Monkablyat's Monkabuntu 2.0 build to play Dolphin on my Pi 4. I've actually got a couple of games, Worms 3D and Crash Tag Team Racing, to run well at a playable speed. I imagine there are a few more undemanding games out there that will also work well.
As a side note space on my Pi is limited (256GB Micro SD) compared to my PC. Does anyone have any suggestions for more compact file formats. WBFS seems good for the Wii. Is it wise co convert all my ISO's to this? Is there a similar format for Gamecube games? 11-16-2020, 01:54 AM

You should try RVZ. It's a new format that saves a lot of space and is fully compatible with Dolphin. Don't know if it's available on that custom build (it's on the official dev builds for sure).
