Why bother making Emulators for use on consoles when a PC can handle it,
PC's are far more practical and superior.

Not every PC can be permanently hooked up to a TV, especially if said PC is for more than just gaming. While there's nothing stopping you from hooking up any PC with the right outputs to a TV with the right inputs, practically speaking, a lot of people would be more comfortable working at their desktops with a monitor when they're doing non-gaming tasks (especially if it involves "adult" material). If said TV is shared (between family or room mates) you'll probably enjoy having a console for gaming and your own PC when the TV is unavailable, or when you just want some privacy (especially if it involves "adult" material). Additionally, having consoles that can emulate games lets you (most of the time) seamlessly switch between the console's native games and emulated titles (e.g. no need to shut the Wii off after playing DKCR and boot up your PC just to play the 80s Donkey Kong arcade game, just play it all on the Wii).

Exactly. When a console can handle it then it would make sense. But in this case it would be fairly pointless even if the device was cracked sufficiently and the devs put in the effort to port it. On top of that dolphin is expected to get even more demanding in the future.

In terms of cpu performance singlethreaded performance really hasn't improved from last generation to this generation in game consoles. A jaguar core at 1.6-2.0GHz and a PPE at 3.2GHz should perform similarly. Multithreaded performance has improved though. That's what they chose to focus on. It's not their fault though. It's physics. Pushing the clock signal frequency from the RF range into the IR range has some really interesting effects in terms of radiation and leakage. The result is generally a phenomenal increase in power consumption for a small increase in clock rate. Increasing single threaded performance beyond the levels of the previous generation can't be done without a huge increase in die size and power consumption. Which leaves less for the GPU. A design that emphasizes multithreading can achieve much higher maximum performance at the same transistor count and power consumption. The only real tradeoff is that extracting the performance requires difficult software optimizations that can only be made with certain types of software. Since video games do a lot of things that can be efficiently multithreaded (graphics setup and rendering, physical simulation, AI, audio rendering, etc.) it made sense to make that tradeoff since that was the type of application that the device is supposed to be designed to run. But for a device running an emulator that would be a bad tradeoff to make.

The only reason desktops have such high singlethreaded performance is:
1. A lot of the applications that people use still depend on it
2. Few commonly used applications gain significant benefit from having more than 4 cores right now
3. Desktops have huge/noisy power supplies capable of delivering the juice that such high power chips need.
4. Desktops are huge/heavy and have the space to fit an ample size motherboard which is needed to drive such a cpu.
5. Desktops are expensive and people generally don't have an issue paying for the performance that their applications need.
6. Desktops have powerful cooling systems that are sometimes loud, heavy, and large.

Thing is nobody would buy a big, heavy, noisy, and expensive game console. Particularly that last point.

Laptops have decent singlethreaded performance because they generally trade everything else to get it (including GPU performance). Since to most PC applications everything else is irrelevant. Except for gaming laptops but we all know how much those cost....

Every PC that is capable of running Dolphin at full speed can be hooked too most TV's since most modern Graphics cards have HDMI outputs.

PC's can be built using many form-factors e.g. Mini-Itx which can be placed under the TV.

Consoles are mostly single-tasking , switching between the console's native games and emulated titles on a PC is much faster.

So I need to move my PC next to my TV even if I don't want to for various reasons? I also need to buy an HDMI cable but that is a minor issue. In actuality, they may be on different floors. It wouldn't be very convenient if I play some PS4 game then I want to play a Wii game then I need to walk to my PC to do that and after that walk back to my PS4 to play another PS4 game. Obviously, I can't switch between PS4 games and Wii games on my PC.

In a few months you'll be able to get a cheap, low-end PC, put it in your living room, install Steam OS, and stream Dolphin to it from your main system.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

Considering how fast technology advances, it'll be cheaper to buy a PC to run Dolphin well next year than it will to buy a PS4.

you know i actually thought consoles were built solely for the purpose of playing the cd that is put in and not made to handle things like emulators or things that the pc can do unless im wrong
