Question
I don't know if anything can be done about this but it's pretty annoying, I can't use drivers higher than 337.xx with dolphin as anything newer
causes dolphin to immediantly crash on loading a game with the usually stopped responding error from windows.

eventlog just says the nvidia opengl driver is the faulting module.

i thought it was to do with optimus but i doubt that now as 337.xx and below work fine in opengl, but anything above that crashes.

i tried installing a new driver and placing the 337 opengl files in the dolphin folder but dolphin throws up a load of error boxes about missing gl extensions.

this got me thinking, has nvidia removed stuff from the new opengl drivers? the files are noticeably smaller than the ones in a 337.xx driver.

anyone got thoughts on this?

Which Dolphin revision are you currently using and is it the same with older revisions/versions? Have you tried the 4.0.2 release for example?

It can either be Dolphin related or NVIDIA related due to the new drivers.

If I were you I would try as many Dolphin revisions as I possibly could with the new drivers. Otherwise stick with the old drivers until it gets fixed.

That's really strange. Have you tried newer revisions?

I wouldn't think so, I'm running the latest drivers (currently 347.25) and Dolphin 4.0-5174 and am still able to run games under OpenGL from MK Wii to Twilight Princess

(though I'm slightly confused that you ask about Nvidia drivers yet your profile lists you have a Radeon HD7850)

EDIT:

Tested TP on 5303, ran around for a good 20 minutes and still no crash on OGL
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X @ 4.2 GHz | MSI GTX 1070TI 8GB | 32 GB DDR4 @ 3000 MHz | Windows 10 Pro x64 | Dolphin 5.0-10886

I am experiencing this too. I have only tested Twilight Princess, but it crashed seconds into the game (after intro) every time, until I switched to DirectX.
