Oh, if it's Metroid it's stalling on our geometry shader, which is a GPU issue I think.

OK. Yeah gtx 980. Tops out at 50% usage during these instances. Which I guess is maximum for dolphin then. So it's known. Ok. If it's known what causes the issue to occasionally cease that's ok too. If not I'll try to find out.

Officially no idea. I observe spikes in usage with refraction, the map, etc at all times however that upper limit reported by GPU-Z changes regularly, from 40%-60%. With nothing else changing, just one continuous emulation. And then the points where full VPS is attainable and it goes over 90% GPU usage. Even more with the 'framelimiter' off. Nothing crazy enhancement-wise, 2×SSAA, 16×AF, 3×IR, scaled EFB. Though backing those down bore no effect. Can't pin it down.
