Dolphin lists only one disc of multi disc games

Hi,

thank you for bringing Dolphin to Android. It runs really well on my Nvidia Shield TV.

The only problem I have is regarding multi disc games. When adding a folder I have to point Dolphin to a specific ISO file and it seems to scan the whole directory of the appropriate file. In case of multi disc games only the last disc will be shown in the games list. All my disc images match with the checksums from redump.org.

My directory structure looks like this:

/sdcard/roms/gc/Resident Evil/Resident Evil (Disc 1).iso
/sdcard/roms/gc/Resident Evil/Resident Evil (Disc 2).iso

No matter if I point Dolphin to disc 1 or disc 2 only disc 2 will be listed. If I change my directory structure to

/sdcard/roms/gc/Resident Evil/Disc 1/Resident Evil (Disc 1).iso
/sdcard/roms/gc/Resident Evil/Disc 2/Resident Evil (Disc 2).iso

disc 1 will be listed ...until I scan disc 2.

So it looks like there can only be one disc of every single game. I tried scanning the same ISO files on the macOS version and all discs are shown correctly.

The Dolphin version was master-5.0-4799.

Does anyone have an advice to solve this?

Hi. I have the same problem like you. My trick is very easy I created folders for each game and when I beat disc one I go to the folder and change some name of the folder like resident evil saga or metal gear.

I have resident evil remake disc 1inside only disc one
Then I have resident evil disc 2,inside disc 2.

When I beat the first CD I go and change the name of the disc one to resident evil disc 01or what you want and load the 2disc. I really don't know why the emulator have this strange problem when the pc version read all games that you put in a single folder.

When a game asks you to insert disc 2 do you rename the disc 2 ISO to the previous disc 1 name?

Some Game Disc 1/Disc.iso --> Some Game Disc 123whatever/Disc.iso
Some Game Disc 2/Disc.iso --> Some Game Disc 1/Disc.iso

Because you can't let Dolphin scan for another disc without closing the currently running game, right?

Or do you
1. Scan disc 2
2. Scan disc 1 to "override" disc 2
3. Play disc 1 until it asks for disc 2
4. Rename disc 1 so dolphin can't find it anymore and "restores" the other known disc of this game

You shouldn't rename or otherwise modify the currently inserted disc - it will either do nothing or confuse the game, because Dolphin never notifies the game that the disc has been changed. Fortunately, most games are fine with closing the game while changing discs (but not all).

Not being able to change discs while a game is running and not being able to see more than one disc of a game at the same time in the game list are limitations in the Android version of Dolphin that you can't get around for now. Fixing that shouldn't be too hard, but right now, we have essentially no developers who want to work on the Android version.

Several games when you beat disc one they give you the choise to save in memory card, or you can make an save data with the save options

Almost one year later and the issue remains! Is there a workaround for this issue to manually build list of games? It is painful to clear settings for dolphin just to change the directory which contains the games. Once Disc 2 is identified for any game, you can't add Disc 1 anymore!! You have to clear apk settings each time to do this.

There's still no way to have both discs in the game list at the same time. However, the ability to change discs while the game is running was added in January this year, and if I understand it correctly, it doesn't rely on having the other disc in the game list. So at least it's possible to play multi-disc games now, even though it's inconvenient that you can't have both discs in the game list.

Maybe I'm not reading this right, but all my 2-disc games show both discs?

Yes, this problem was exclusive to Android. It has actually gotten fixed recently too.
