A little question, are they actually native resolutions? I mean, the GPU of the Wii could execute those resolutions?

1x (native) is the maximum resolution that the GameCube and Wii support. Everything above that is a Dolphin enhancement!

The GPU of the GC/Wii isn't that fast compared to PC Graphics cards of today 2. The time when the consoles came out most people were still using CRT-TV's (the big old school screens) What we do when we increase the Internal Resolution and multiply it by a number: e.g. 640x528 = native, thus 2x IR = 1280x1058, we do this so the pixels stay exactly square and all the game logic that uses these square pixels keeps working correctly.
