Hello!
I always wanted to play games at Dolphin 1920x1080 full HD resolution, but I noticed that almost all games are slow to play in that resolution.

my pc:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit;
Pentium Dual Core E5500 2.80 Ghz;
2 GB RAM;
Video card GeForce 9500GT 1GB GDDR2.

Using the Dolphin 64 bits.

Especially your graphics card is too slow for full HD. I had a 9600GT and it couldn't handle it in many games, a 9500 is even slower.

Yeah, you're gonna need a high-end graphics card to play in high resolution (which is HD)

my 9500gt works fine with resolutions up to 1440x900, beyond that it starts to get heavy slowdowns.
you can still play fine in 720p losing like, 2-3 fps comparing to native.
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit Creators Update
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 960 @ 3.6 GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3 AM3+ Revision
RAM: HyperX 8GB Dual Channel @ 1600Mhz

My GTX 275 can handle 1080p in Dolphin unless I have high levels of Anti-aliasing turned on.
A cheap GTX 460 would be good for Dolphin unless you want to have extra stuff (high res textures, anti-aliasing) turned on.
Of course if you plan on playing other games you might want something better.

I'm also having trouble playing in full HD 1080p and also 720P. both on my computer screen and with hdmi to my tv.

I've got an I7 2.20ghz and a Geforce GT 555m

I know dolphin doesnt support quad core so is it my processor that is limiting it? Also, what's the best config to run smoothly while keeping quality?

Try playing at x1 (or less) res and see if it is faster, if so the GFX are too slow if not then it is the CPU.
