Kinda new to the whole emulating scene. Been trying to play my backup games on my computer, but Dolphin has been hanging every 10 seconds or so. Not enough to make it freeze. It's actually hardly noticeable. But I would like to fix it if I can. I have an older Dell XPS 410 running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Intel Core2 Quad Q6700 Processor running at 2.66ghz with a 1066 FSB. 8gb of PC2-6400 Dual Channel DDR2 Ram. Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 Graphics. Rated at a 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index but only because of the Hard Drive. All of the ratings are at a 7.2 except for the Hard Drive at a 5.9. I figure my hardware should be able to run Dolphin no problem despite its age, but maybe I'm wrong? I just have the basic 4.0.2 version of Dolphin and have just been trying to play Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Party 5. I haven't added any plug-in's to it or anything. Any suggestions?
Dolphin hangs every 10 seconds or so. Is it my hardware?

You're most likely hitting a CPU bottleneck. Dolphin needs strong single-core speeds to run, and the Q6700 is not strong enough for what Dolphin needs (I have a Q6600 in a Dell Inspiron 9200, and it has some lag in Dolphin).
Use one of the latest dev builds, as they are a bit faster than 4.0.2 stable. The games you listed ( Mario Kart DD and Mario Party 5) aren't really that CPU intensive, but you'll be hitting like 95% speed, which will cause the little freezes. Make sure under Windows Power Options you have the power plan set to maximum performance. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-un...ance-guide Follow the GPU part to make sure you aren't being GPU bound also. 03-30-2014, 01:13 AM
The only demanding part of MP5 is the intro cinematic, you shoudn´t have problems with the rest. Same for MK-DD.

I'm seeing 62% CPU usage. 42.0C GPU Temp. The game will play fine at 60 FPS, but it drops in the 30's when I see it hang. I've tried using the newer dev builds and I get the same problem.

Not just GPU temps, but also CPU´s.

Max Temp. 57C on cores 1 and 2. Max Temp. 56C on Cores 0 and 3. Never went above 72% CPU usage.

That's...normal.
Try one of the newer development builds instead.
