OK. Extract the archive here (in your Download folder) and show me what it gives you

Something's really weird here. You obtain a 4Kb file.
Try to use another Zip/Unzip program. 7Zip for example. There should be a Mac version

You are looking in the wrong library.

~ means /User/<username>, so when I said:

Quote:Go To Folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Dolphin/User/Config

I meant to literally click on the desktop (to ensure Finder is active), click Go > Go To Folder and then type that exact line into the window.
@Gold Members: If you guys have never used Dolphin on a Mac and you don't understand the difference between ~/Library and /Library, you probably shouldn't do any folder hierarchy stuff for Mac. I've learned to stay out of things where I might not have the greatest knowledge (I've had enough clashes with NV), so at least be cautious and don't pretend to be an expert.

Uninstalling Dolphin on the Mac leaves behind all Configs and saves AFAICT. So even if she uninstalls and reinstalls, the issue will persist until she follows my instructions.

ALL ENCOMPASSING RECAP OF SOLUTION:

1. Click on the Desktop
2. Click on Go in the menu bar and select Go To Folder
3. In the resulting dialog box, copy this exactly:

Quote:~/Library/Application Support/Dolphin/User/Config

4. Right click on "Dolphin.ini"
5. Select "Open"
6. Choose TextEdit (you can just type TextEdit into the search field to find it faster)
7. Find this line toward the top:

Quote:RecursiveGCMPaths = True

8. Change that line to:

Quote:RecursiveGCMPaths = False

9. Uninstall any of the crap these other people had you install and try out Dolphin again.

Hmm, maybe I have some of the path wrong. Just Go To Folder /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support. Browse the rest of the way there.

If that folder is missing something is seriously messed up, because that is a system folder necessary to OSX.

i found it. the dolphin folder was hidden, i unlocked the hidden files via terminal using this code, "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES"
and followed your instructions further, and it fixed the problem, dolphin no longer freezes.

thank you for the help and everyone else. Smile x

At least on my Mac Go To Folder can go into hidden folders. Maybe that was just a recent addition to OS X? I dunno. But yeah glad it worked.

I have already used a Mac. I recognize I may have missed something here though.
Btw for the anecdot my first computer was a Mac. An antiquity in my personal museum now Tongue

I agree.
But nobody helped this guy. So I try to find a solution even if I'm far from knowing everything on a Mac

I did not and will never do such a thing Wink
