I have tried to search up this problem but couldnt find a solution, for some reason on my computer whenever i try to enter the controller settings on dolphin it freezes, it very rarely wont happen but it is still very consistent, my friend doesnt have a problem with it and obviously not many other people have problems with it from how rare this seems to be, i can answer any questions if it will help to fix this problem because i dont know whats wrong, i tried reinstalling and deleting dolphin's configs and still nothing

Were you using 5.0-14344 when it was freezing? It could be useful to find out which version caused this so that it can be fixed.

I tried it myself. (by the way, this glitch did happen to me also, i done the same thing! )
System info:
Windows 10 Home 64-bit Processor: AMD A9-9425 RADEON R5 RAM: 8.0 GB Always be sure to smile!
Do you have any custom controller drivers installed that would interfere with Dolphin? This is usually the reason that happens. Stable is missing controller features, so it may not get interfered with.

I too got the same issue with Dolphin (controller tab and when change options ex: on/off cheat/full screen tick) and RPCS 3 (worse as the freeze/not responding issue happen any time at any place as long as the app is running).
Honestly mainly because of this issue and I REALLY hate troubleshooting without a sliver of hint, I already move on from Dolphin and PC - Windows Emulator in general to real hardware. Yes in span of one month after my dolphin and RPCS 3 busted (and several little incompatibility in the past like need this specific brand of CPU/GPU for some games because there are some exclusive feature in there, REMEMBER RADEON shitty OpenGL support) I already mass bought almost all "hard" to emulate legacy devices (ps3,x360,wiiU,PS2 and Vita and soon maybe N64). So I MAKE this account exclusively to post about this thing. I said again : ALL Dolphin build which available to download in official download page after 5.0-13963 are freeze when I open controller tab the second time (from freshly new downloaded build) and to the little extent when to change options on the tick box. Yup so chronologically: 1. Download the fresh any build higher than 5.0-13963 2. First time boot the app, I opened the controller tab fine 3. App automatically created user conf folder (no matter the location - portable or not) 4. closed and restart the app - open controller tab and freeze. Honestly outside several "easy" to emulate system like SNES/Mame/PSX etc, I don't really care anymore about the others. I purely just want to share this issue to Dev (I make this account purely to just post this). I hope this issue will be fixed in the future. 06-27-2021, 02:56 AM
I've asked this before, do you have any special controller emulation drivers?
vJoy is known to interfere with Dolphin and other emulators, for instance 06-27-2021, 03:50 PM

Even if I have (as an portable stored somewhere maybe) why that have anything to do with another portable application while the first not active in my task manager when I boot Dolphin? Also not all emulator are freeze. PPSSPP, Retroatch, Mame, TeknoParrot, Singe dst all booted fine. So the problem clearly something have to do with emulator itselft (QT plugging maybe as RPCS 3 also use that too). Please just stop blame user machine for this one.
Why do you think it's a problem with Dolphin specifically if another emulator is having the same issue?
It might be some conflict between Qt and something else on your system. If you want, you could probably compile Dolphin yourself in Visual Studio, run it under a debugger, and then you could get us a stack trace of where it's crashing. Then we might be able to give your more information on what's happening or maybe even work around the issue on our end. |
