Question
Hello! I'm new to the forums, so hello everyone. After testing various versions of Mario Galaxy, 3.0 has ran so.... incredible. I'm not sure why it was 3.0 of all the versions, but I was happy regardless, playing on 3.5 or 4.0 would cause lag, so it was my only choice. I've got pretty damn far in the game (bedroom world), and so far really enjoying it, however I've had a major problem, it does occur rather occasionally, but it happens randomly as well. That's right, the common 'Dolphin.exe has stopped working' issue rises again. It only happened to me twice through out my playthrough, I really want to stay on Dolphin 3.0 for this particular game, since performance wise it works best. Anyways, if any of you guys can help me, that would be great! Here are my settings:

General:
Enable Dual Core (Checked)
Enable Idle Skipping (Checked)
JIT Recompiler (Checked)

Interface:
Use Panic Handlers (Checked)

Audio:
DSP HLE Emulation (Checked)
Enable DTK Music (Checked)
DSP LLE on thread (Not checked)
Enable Audio Throttle (Not checked)
Dump Audio (Not checked)
Audio Backend: DSound
Sample rate: 48000 Hz

Now in the graphics...

General:
Backend: Direct 3D9
V-Sync (Checked)

Enhancements:
Internal Resolution: 2x Native (1280 x 1056)
Anti-aliasing: None
Antisotropic Filtering: 16x

Hacks:
Skip EFB Access from CPU (Not checked)
Ignore format changes (Checked)
EFB Copies: Texture
Texture Cache: Set to fast
External Frame Buffer: Disable
Fast Mipmaps (Checked)
Disable Lighting (Not checked)
Disable Per-Pixel Depth (Checked)
OpenCL Texture decoder (Not checked)
Cache Display lists (Checked)
Disable Fog (Checked)
Skip Dest Alpha pass (Not checked)
OpenMP Texture decoder (Checked)

I should also mention I have Accurate VBeam emulation enabled of course.

That is all my settings, I want to find a fix for this on Dolphin 3.0, since Dolphin 3.0 performance wise has been so much better to me than 3.5. I know barely anything is wrong with the game performance wise, it works like a dream!

If any of you guys wish to contact me (My Skype is Rayfist090) or teamview me and maybe sort this problem out, please feel free. And I'd be very greatful if you guys could help, if you need specs, they can be viewed on my profile I think. Thanks again, I hope I enjoy my stay on the forums.

Try these:
1) Update drivers, Windows updates, DirectX Web installer (may be missing some parts), and latest version of Visual C++
2) Make sure under Power Management in Windows you're running in High Performance, and are plugged in to power. Also set a high performance profile under Catalyst Control Center
3) Use the OpenGL backend on one of the latest dev builds, as it is faster than D3D. The current dev build is 4.0-720

I'm pretty sure that D3D9 broke some stuff in SMG (https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2013/10/12/d3d9-why-its-not-part-dolphins-future/)
Also: overclock that CPU. Extra speed is always welcomed for Dolphin

I'll take your advice when I come back from School. Last night I did fiddle with the settings and disabled some stuff in the audio section, so I left the game on for a whole night and I got no error messages so far. But I'll totally try your advice regardless.

Apart from using a new build there is not much you can do to improve stability for an old one.

Aso, take in mind that LLE is required for SMG (both 1 & 2), and unfortunately it´ll make things worse in performance.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.
