"Dolphin.exe has stopped working" on game boot

Booting any game causes "dolphin.exe has stopped working" to appear and close down.

Interestingly, uninstalling and reinstalling dolphin allows each game to work once. Closing the window and then booting the same game again will always result in a crash.

Any suggestions? Tried on 4.0.2 as well as some netplay branches

Have you tried using the latest development builds (not the stable builds?) 4.0.2 is quite old at this point. If you still get issues, try deleting the contents of the ShaderCache folder in the Dolphin Emulator folder in My Documents; that could be the issue in some cases.

Use latest development build. If the issue persists go to dolphin > Auddio and set sound backend to DSound

Latest development build has same problem

I found the problem, though; for some reason OpenGL causes it. Swapping to Direct3D fixes the crashes. Not sure why.

It's a driver bug in the IntelHD4000 series cards on Windows 8.

Are you using shaders? I should run more tests to make sure but at least here, 90% of the games I have will make Dolphin instantly crash at boot with OpenGL when using FXAA shader. If I disable it, boot the game and then enable the shader again with the game already running then everything works fine, but if I try to boot a game with the shader already enabled Dolphin crashes...

Also, this occurs only when running Dolphin through my GT 635M. If I use Intel HD 4000 then the crash at boot doesn't occur...
