Pretty sure many people have gotten many Wii games to run fullspeed at even HD resolutions with modern Core i7's clocked even under 4ghz. So I doubt you would need anything of the sort above 5ghz... And as for Cube games, even MY processor can handle most of them without any FPS drops. There's not even any way to take advantage of quad cores now, unless the CPU's themselves just run better clock for clock. You can only use 2 cores currently. Not even sure if there would BE much benefit from quads.
If you want to see HOW well even the most powerful Wii games run on Dolphin in HD, check out iNexXxuS' youtube channel- http://www.youtube.com/user/iNexXxuS#g/u He can run all his games at LEAST full speed at 720p or higher with a Core i7. And that's while recording, he usually says he runs them at 1080p at full speed without the Fraps FPS sucker. I don't know why people seem to think you need over 4ghz or whatever to run the games well... 04-06-2010, 11:40 AM
4 Ghz if you want to be sure that the 99% of the games will run at full speed
An GPU with GDDR5 memory to be sure that it won't slowdown with "copy EFB to RAM " And $700 to buy that
