dolphin doesnt recognize PS3 controller using Scp

my controller worked perfect with dolphin using motioninjoy but after a few bsods i looked around and it seemed like Scp was the way to go. my pc recognizes the controller and all of the buttons work when in ScpMonitor but dolphin doesnt see it in gamecube or wii controller settings.

did i miss a step somewhere or do i need to do something additional to get dolphin to register that its there?

nope. it shows keyboard/mouse and gamepad but nothing works when i try either.

By "try", do you mean clicking on one of the mappable buttons and then pressing something on the keyboard/gamepad?

yes. the keyboard and mouse work, i verified this, but im not trying to use them. i just tried using that dropdown option with the ps3 controller just to see if it would work. when i had motioninjoy there was a separate dropdown option "motioninjoy" that i could select which worked for the ps3 controller but now there is just keyboard and gamepad and neither work with the ps3 controller.

Does the DS3 work in any other software? The SCP drivers are great because of their simplicity, so there's little change Dolphin can mess them up. If it is not working in Dolphin, it probably is not working everywhere else.

i dont know because im only using the ds3 for dolphin. its definitely working in control panel under game controllers. it shows up as a xbox 360 controller and all of the buttons light up when i press them and the thumb sticks and d-pad work as well. ScpMonitor shows it working as well because all of the buttons and thumb sticks and d-pad light up when i press them.

i was following a guide when i did it originally so im not sure where i would start at in that link.
