Dolphin doesn't overwrite savefiles

Dolphin won't overwrite existing saves in the memory card file, but it do write new saves to the file.

I'm currently running 4.0-6820, and i have moved the global memory card location to my secondary hard drive, it did overwrite the savefile one time after i made a new memory card file and transferred the previous savefiles, but then it stopped working again.

It sounds like a permission issue. Does your account have write access to the memory cards?

I have the one and only account on the PC, and it's an admin account, so it should not be a problem with permission, and if I remove the memory card file from the folder, and launch a game, then it will create a new memory card file.

As i said, I tried to create a new memory card file, and then trancfere the old save files over, and dolphin saved the game for one session, but refused to overwrite the save file after that, even if it said it have saved it to the location of the file.

Have you tried, right click on dolphin > run as admin, anyway?

It still didn't save when i ran it as an administrator :/

I checked before i shut down Dolphin that the save file was from today in game, but it reverted back to the previous when i started Dolphin up again.

Administrator rights don't prevent ownership issues from occurring, they just give you the means to fix them. Let's try it!

Right click the saves folder and press properties, click the security tab, and click the "advanced" button. Click the owner tab, press "edit", and in the change owner block, select your account. Keep pressing ok to back out, and you should get a prompt if you want to apply the changes to subfiles and folders. Say yes.

That will give you ownership, and by default, full control permissions. You can make sure you have full control permissions in any number of those screens. (windows is dumb)

Why are we jumping to the conclusion that this is some sort of permissions issue?
It could just be yet another case of someone pressing B instead of A, telling the game to cancel instead of confirming to save.

It's every game that already has a exsitisting save file, and I made sure in-game that it was the save from that session, but then after I shut down and re opened the game, it had reverted back to the old save

But for testing I'm using Mario Party 4, since it shows the date and time of the save file

It also appears some yellow text in the top left corner that says "Wrote to memory card A" and the location of the save foldre

I don't know if it's related to this problem, but Dolphin always crashes when I'm exiting a game

I tried it, it still didn't work :|
