DiscIO isn't the bottleneck on loading custom textures. PNG decoding however is. So DDS are faster to load, So it is a compromiss of decoding performance vs disk usage and quality - PNG has the better quality. IMO if the decoded textures fit in main memory, use PNG. Prefetching time shouldn't matter much. Else, use DDS.

But isn't it still just because memory amounts are much higher with non-native to uncompressed, and decoding process takes longer and can't keep up when non-prefetching (on-fly). So prefetching .PNGs means they're converted to raw ahead of time, ready for use, so the decoding performance wouldn't matter. The only thing that matters then is RAM speed and latency, right? And probably something with the VRAM-to-RAM and vice versa speed too no? Could it also be because custom nonnative textures have to be decoded on CPU, maybe would it be faster if GPU did this ... The GPU Texture Decoding as you said doesn't affect custom textures, but it should exclude .DDS Compressed ones now that native support is in.
I updated the first post with the new changes regarding arbitrary mipmaps and custom textures. There isn't much to it really, but I figured it would be a nice to have this information somewhere. Check that for the full details.
The short version is we can now have textures that dump like this: And in-game look like this: Keep the same effect with custom textures with any IR/AF setting like this: Or add static effects to other textures like this: And avoid looking like this: 05-29-2018, 06:19 AM
Is it possible to load custom texture on Dolphin-Emu Android Version? I cannot find a way to load.
I Have Test Xenoblade and some other games play stable 30fps even with OpenGL, Device OP6 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 4000MHz OC | RAM: G.Skill DDR4 Dual 16GB 3200MHz OC | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 1710MHz

It should work, but you need to enable it manually in the INI files. Also, on most Android devices, PNG is the only supported format in the newest versions of Dolphin, so you can't load DDS textures. 05-29-2018, 06:47 AM

That will help to fix the broken Vulkan Drivers on Devices with that snapdragon CPU and Latest Adreno GPU? Vulkan works 60FPS at the moment on snaprdagon 845 but the 80% of the graphics are full of glitches/broken CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 4000MHz OC | RAM: G.Skill DDR4 Dual 16GB 3200MHz OC | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 1710MHz

Im trying to modify some textures from soul calibur 2 and I had no problems with the characters and stage textures as it dumps the in dds format, my problem is with the png files that are dump as two black and white images and any changes made to them will result in the texture turning red or green once in game.

Hi. I am trying to rename some custom textures from the old format like "GHAE08_4d82500a_8.png" to the new format Like "tex1......" for Resident Evil 2. I have tried the convert system in Dolphin 5.0-6205 and tried using rename tool made by StepDragon but without success. Anyone can Help?
My specs:
Operating System: Windows 10 x64 Processor/CPU: intel I7 3770 3.4 Ghz Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1060 6GB Memory/RAM: 16 GB Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 5.0-xxxx X64 (always the latest) and the latest Ishiiruka for custom textures. I'm still learning english. Please, be patient with me. And, if i make a mistake, please correct me, i will learn a lot this way!
The renaming system got removed eventually in the later development builds. It should still be accessible with the Stable 5.0 or you need to find the latest development build before it got removed.

5.0-6205 is the last version that has the renaming system. Just keep in mind that it only is able to rename a texture once you reach the part of the game where the texture is used.
