I dont think this is a specific type of problem for him. I am having the exact same problem. When I had the 32 bit version, it would open right after download, then if I close it and try to open it a second time, it would be non responsive and nothing would happen. It was not still running in task manager or anything like that. Task manager would actually show it running, then it would automatically close. So I downloaded the 64 bit version, same exact thing except this time, it actually show me a message saying that dolphin crashed.

I believe I know what is happening. Windows, for whatever reason, is only allowing a single instance of Dolphin.exe. When the program crashes, or is closed, Windows will not allow what it believes to be a second instance of Dolphin to be opened. I don't know what is causing this behavior though; it could be some other program, or perhaps some system setting. Is Dolphin the only application that has this problem? Can you open multiple instances of other programs such as MS Paint, or Notepad?
Here are some possible workarounds, let me know if any of these are successful: - Rename Dolphin.exe to something else and try to run it - Right-click Dolphin.exe and select "Run as Administrator" I would advise posting a topic at sevenforums.com. They might be of some help there. 07-11-2012, 10:31 AM
Dolphin is the only application with this problem. I can run multiple instances of notepad and MS paint. Running as administrator does not help. I can start it up again if I rename it but, I get the same error if I close it or if it crashes. I am also having some success by disabling desktop composition in properties.

Interesting, so Aero is what is causing the problem? I guess the temporary solution would be to disable Aero (or disable desktop composition like you did). I see that there are all of a sudden three people that have this exact same issue, is there anyone with this problem that has had Dolphin work correctly in the past? Could a Windows Update have caused this? Although, the last update was almost a month ago.

I'm also having the same problems but disabling desktop composition doesn't work for me. I have the latest dolphin ver for windows 7 64-bit os. Dolphin only runs if i restart my computer.

Hey, it might be a long shot, but try creating a new user account on your pc and see if you still get problems.

You can count four people. I had my cousin download it to see if the same thing happens on his computer...and it does. Can open it the first time but if he wants to close it and open again, he has to restart the cpu. And even sometimes that doesnt help. It seems random when dolphin wants to work. Because sometimes I can close it, and open it right back up if i click on it right after I close it...but most of the time, I cant do anything.
I am sad because I really like this program but I cant just leave my cpu running constant because I am afriad to close it Lol Oh and creating another user doesnt seem to work....nothing changes |
