Gamecube games still load fine, and I could play New Super Mario Bros. and the wii remake of Punch-Out just fine for a while, but I tried to play Smash Bros. Brawl today and now when I try to load any wii game I get an error message saying "Setupwiimem: cant create setting file", and then Dolphin crashes. I googled around and found posts on this forum from 2011 and 2012 where people were getting the error message, "Setupwiimem: cant [b]find[b] setting file". Taking suggestions from those threads I ran Dolphin as an admin, reinstalled it, and restarted my computer, and I'm still right where I started. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you!

Ahh. So should I go download 4.0.1 in the meantime?
Edit: I took another look at the official download page. I'm currently using the "Stable version" 4.0.2 which was released a year and two months ago, and wii games were working for me on this version before, so this wouldn't be something you guys broke recently. I also see that you're releasing "development versions" about twice a day, so if this problem is fixed in the next one of those I'm more than happy to wait that long. 02-15-2015, 09:40 AM
https://es.dolphin-emu.org/download/ or https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ (the first is on spanish coz my country); these are the last builds ever, the 4.0.2 and 4.0.1 are a bit old now

Alright, I downloaded the latest development version, 4.0-5476 released less than 30 minutes ago, and now the problem is even worse! Again, gamecube games work fine, but when I open a wii game I get an error message that says "Setupwiimemory: unable to create settings.txt file" and then I get another slew of error messages that say "Unable to resolve read address (random number)", "Unable to resolve read address (another random number)" ad infinitum until I force Dolphin to close with task manager.

I'm having the same address problem (only that its trying to write instead of reading), but only when I try to load Gecko 1.9 on these latest builds starting from 4.0-5450. But Wii games are loading normally even on 4.0-5476. I think this post is talking about your problem: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/iss...d=7652#c14. Here's the excerpt:
" "Setup Wii Memory: Cant write setting.txt file" This occurs while running dolphin under administrator settings. " Hope it helps. 02-15-2015, 11:04 AM

That's really odd then. Couldn't find anything else about this issue. Backup your saves, states and memcards and try to delete your main Dolphin directory from the "Documents" folder, maybe that's an option on fixing this, but no guarantees at all.
