For quite a while, Dolphin has always crashed when I stop the emulation (whether that's pressing "stop emulation" or by pressing the X on the video output window) (I know it's crashed because the game selection window also closes and any settings I've changed don't get saved). I'm currently using 5.0-12729. The issue does not happen with other Dolphin instances (like Primehack and Ishiiruka, which both have a portable.txt to keep them separated), I suspect it's a configuration thing but I don't know where to even start with messing around and seeing what could fix it.
Dolphin crashes when emulation is stopped

This has happened to me a couple times. I've always just deleted config and cache from documents/Dolphin Emulator. Never figured out what in particular was messed up.

I get the exact same issue. I initially thought it was how it was meant to behave because a lot of emulators, like ePSXe, don't let you change games without exiting completely. But then I noticed settings don't save. This issue was apparently closed a while ago as invalid (https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/7360) because it apparently couldn't be reproduced. It can be traced as far back as 2010 (https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-is...ose-a-game). No GPU setting makes a difference.

I didn't see an edit button. Trying Craftyawesome's suggestion worked. Deleting the cache did nothing, but deleting the configs did. Backup your custom controls before you do. Deleting the entire config folder seemed to fix that issue of having to click on "always on" in controller settings for rumble to work. I think my configs dated to as far back as Dolphin 3.0.
