Question
Hello. I am new to the dolphin emulator scene as well as Linux/Steamdeck gaming…so please forgive any ignorance. I have been using dolphin to emulate GameCube/wii on my Steamdeck for months with great success. Suddenly today i tried to boot up a game and i would get a “compiling shaders” notice followed by a crash of dolphin. This happens when I try to play a wii or GameCube game. I did just notice that there was an update to dolphin in discovery and updated to Dolphin[HEAD]5.0-16793, so I am wondering if the update is what is causing these crashes…as it is the only thing that has changed. I have tried to troubleshoot a little with what little knowledge I have. I can get the games to launch if I switch to software rendering or null. Things crash when using both Vulcan and OpenGL.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Updating to 5.0-16833 or later should fix the problem.

5.0-16793 Seems to be the most up to date version available on the discovery store.

Disable GPU texture decoding if it's enabled.
