I have encountered an issue with Dolphin 3.5-2318-x64 where it crashes on startup. I have tried reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable package and the DirectX Runtime from Microsoft to no effect. I have tried other development versions, such as Dolphin 3.5-2317-x64 and Dolphin 3.5-2316-x64 as well as deleting and downloading Dolphin 3.5-2318-x64 again with no luck. I have attached generated crash logs if that will help.

my specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor/CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 CPU @ 3.10GHz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 620
Memory/RAM: ADATA, two 4GB DDR3 cards
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 3.5-2318-x64

1-Those logs are from the system, not from the emulator.

2-Also, have you also tried installing .NET Framework?

3-Visual C++ 2010 is no longer the latest package. The latest one is from last year (2012).

oliverfrancisco, your points are all invalid.
-System-produced logs can still be helpful – stacktraces, for instance, are produced by the system and are *immensely* helpful to developers. (Though, in this case, you're right, these logs are useless.)
-.NET Framework doesn't help, Dolphin doesn't use it.
-*All* the Visual C++ Redistributables should be installed, not just the newest year number of it. You should just need the newest VC2010 one since that's what Dolphin's currently compiled with.

Zampyr, I don't really know what could be causing that crash, so I can only provide you with generic remedies, e.g. making sure to install all the "important" updates in Windows Update (and the important-looking ones that end up in the Optional section too) and looking at the Installation section of the Dolphin FAQ: https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/faq/

If you can figure out how to get a stacktrace (hint: you'll likely need to compile Dolphin from source (also, what the fuck, Windows, OS X auto-dumps stacktraces from all crashes in a certain folder and Linux can just run any old binary they want in gdb to get a stacktrace once it crashes)) that'd be helpful, but I can't really count on ordinary folks to do that.

I may have found a possible solution to the problem.

Others seem to be having a similar problem as I mentioned above, such as...

https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-dolphin-will-start-up-once-and-then-not-start-again

...although I failed to mention in the OP that the emulator would open once and upon closing and reopening Dolphin, it would fail to launch.

I tried various other development versions of Dolphin and one of them triggered my Antivirus's (Avast free version) Auto-sandbox program execution mode and it ran fine in the sandbox mode. So, putting two and two together, I downloaded a program that would open other programs in a sandbox, and Dolphin launched successfully, several times even, as long as it was running in the sandbox.

So, I guess I'll be running Dolphin in a sandbox from now on. It works just fine in the sandbox too AFAICT, although it fail to run once in the sandbox.
