I've got myself a Lenovo Ideapad Y580 and I'm trying to use it for some wii emulation considering the powerhouse it is and the fact I sold my wii a week ago.
So I download the emulator, launch it, start a game and I get greeted with a very low framerate.
I went over the Nvidia Control Panel and, wouldn't you know, the emulator was running on Integrated graphics.
So, I switched them with the Dedicated ones and I launch the emulator again.
I went over to the graphics tab to turn on some sweet Anti-Aliasing and Upscaling, but the emulator crashed.
So I turned on the emulator again and tried to run some game, but it crashed again.
So I decided to google this problem, but the only topic of this sort I found was one saying I should stay away from beta drivers.
But i have official, non beta drivers, so there shouldn't be issues?
I don't want to run the emulator on low resolution and 1/2 of full speed when I know my laptop can perform better.

Is there any way to fix this?

All help will be appreciated.

I don't think the 650M can handle any AA with a decent IR (2.5x imho). Your GPU has a memory bandwidth of 64.0 GB/s which meets the minimum for 3x IR and no AA. So drop the graphics configuration to 3x IR (that is still 1080p), 16x AF, and no AA.

Your laptop is also not the powerhouse you think it to be. It should run games decently though.

Also, you should specify which games you're trying to test. Your CPU might be too weak for some.

If you turn off the stuff you did in the NVIDIA control panel and run the game, what does the yellow text say at the beginning?

Also please name the game. That CPU should run most fine, but some won't work unless you use something like mine.

It has a GTX 660, not a 650 and as far as I know the 660 is a lot more powerful than the 650. The game I'm trying to play is Sonic Colors and I think that a Core i7-3610QM should be enough to handle it.
I'm also using only 2xIR since my laptop has a 720p display and a better resolution is useless. I'm sure my video card can run the emulator with even 4xAA.

What yellow text? Sorry for sounding noobish, but if I revert the settings in the Nvidia control panel back, the emulator runs properly.
Do you mean the yellow text that pops up when you start a game? Also the game I'm trying to run is, as I said above this reply, Sonic Colors, but the emulator crashes/runs very slowly on other games too.

I don't really know the requirements for running Sonic Colors full speed so I can't say whether or not your stipulation on the power of your CPU is correct, but I can help you deal with the GPU issue.

The yellow text I'm referring o is indeed the stuff that pops up at the beginning of a game.

Try deleting the contents of the User/ShaderCache folder before running Dolphin. Generally, I advise using different Dolphin installations for each GPU in the first place.

I meant 660m so sorry about that, but the specs are still correct. You will only be able to handle 3x IR at most without any AA. Also do note that the 660 and 660m are completely different GPUs. The 660 is far stronger than the 660m.

If your laptop only has a 720p display, doing 3x IR should give some AA effect similar to how 4x IR will give 1080p monitors some AA. When you get your problem fixed, I suggest getting rid of the AA and pushing the IR to 3x since I believe increasing IR isn't as demanding as AA.

Also, post your settings to make sure this is not an issue with how your set up the emulator.

This sounds like you didn't tweak with the settings at all.

Tried that, still crashes.

Before I reinstalled my Windows, I could run Dolphin at 3xIR with 4xAA at max speed, so it looks like you aren't thinking correctly.

Edit: The image didn't load properly

Don't know if bumping is allowed, since nothing is written in the rules, so BUMP.
