Sad
Hi,

Dolphin crashes for pretty much any reason, such as me exiting out of an options menu, but it has crashed 100% of the time I've tried to load up a rom (specifically the Gauntlet: Dark Legacy ISO if that helps).  Whenever this happens, my entire computer will freeze and the only way out is to power down and reboot.  From some other forum posts I've checked, I tried setting dolphin to comparability mode for Windows 7 and running as administrator, but it hasn't helped as far as I can tell.  My laptop's stats aren't the greatest, but from what I've seen poking around online it should be above the bare minimum requirements to run games on Dolphin 5.0 x64.

Operating System: Windows 10 x64
Processor/CPU: Intel i5 -2450M @ 2.5 GHz
Video Card/GPU:   Intel R HD Graphics 3000, NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
Memory/RAM: 6.00 GB

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

***Update***

I have tried this on both the regular 5.0 version as well as Dolphin-5.0-321-SL.  I am able to load up the game without any issues or freezing, but when I: 1) have DS4Windows loaded up and my PS4 controller connected, when I load up the Gauntlet ROM my computer will freeze or I will get a black screen where I can only move the cursor around, and 2) on the controller menu, if I try to set the controller to keyboard and apply the changes, my computer freezes entirely.

So essentially, I can load the ROM up if I do not have an working controller (including keyboard) set up.  Hope this helps clarify my issues a bit more

It's probably a driver issue rather than anything to do with Dolphin.

If it is a driver issue, what steps could I take?  I checked my graphics card drivers and they were up to date according to Windows

Don't use windows to tell you if the driver is u to date. If you click on the start button and search for the Nvidia Control Panel (or Geforce Experience), run that and see what driver version it reports. It should be 385.69. If not, go to Nvidia.com, go to drivers, and download the latest installer.

Then, make sure in the Nvidia Control Panel that you have a profile setup for Dolphin to use your Nvidia GPU and it is in High Performance mode.

Thanks for the advice, I updated my driver to version 385.69 (can't imagine how long my Nvidia driver's been outdated).  How do I set up a profile for Dolphin in Nvidea Experience?  I could just be blind, but when I was searching around I only found an option for it to scan for games (so it just detected like League and PUBG).

Geforce Experience doesn't do that, you'll need to use Nvidia Control Panel.

So I located Nvidia Control Panel on my computer, from there I have 3 options on the left side: 1) Adjust Image settings with preview, 2) manage 3D settings, and 3) Set PhysX Config.

I set 1) to Use my preference emphasizing: Performance

2) I selected Dolphin as a program to customize under the Programs settings tab.  The graphics processor defaults to Nvidia GPU.  Under specify settings for this program, everything is defaulted to the global setting (which from the descriptions I read were for performance over quality), except I changed OpenGL rendering GPU to GeForce GT 630M, Power management mode to Prefer maximum performance, and Texture filtering - Quality to High Performance.

3) I set PhysX processor to GeForce GT 630M.  Probably doesn't matter for what I'm trying to do though

After setting these, I tried running Dolphin again, but it was still messing up, like closing out a menu or loading the game with DS4 Windows running took me to a black screen where I could only move the cursor around.  Was there anything I missed with editing the settings in NVIDIA Control Panel?  Thanks again for everyone's input on this

Don't mess with the Texture filtering quality, set that back to default and see if that helps

Sorry for the late reply, I returned Texture Filtering - Quality back to the global setting (quality) and applied the change, but loading up Guantlet: Dark Legacy, after having DS4 Windows set up, froze my screen for ~20 seconds, then dolphin and the game windows were faded slightly on a black background and all I could do was move around the cursor.

Would anyone else happen to have another suggestion or is this seeming more and more like a lost cause?
