kinkinkijkin Wrote:Ever heard of changing standards? It's sometimes nice to do that when the current standard is needlessly unintuitive. Obligatory: What you're talking about doing is creating a completely new term that means exactly the same thing as a term that already exists and is already used by everyone. There is no possible way that could make things more intuitive. Especially when you consider that the term you're talking about eliminating means exactly what it says. This annoys me to no end. It has polluted countless hobbies of mine and makes communication with other users confusing and frustrating. People should not make up their own lingo when standard words already exist for what they are describing. They should not arbitrarily change the meaning of existing terms (thereby creating multiple definitions of the same word) even if it's based on context. And they should have a very clear definition for what terms mean. If a term is too general/vague for new implementations THEN AND ONLY THEN new more specific terms should be created to specify things further. If people just followed these simple rules incorrect or unclear use of terminology would not proliferate on anywhere near the scale that it does and I would not need to write as many of these posts correcting people or asking people what they meant by X. I do my part to try and stop this sort of thing when I see it happen, but I'm just one guy. And for every one of me there are hundreds that allow it to happen or actively engage in it themselves. At least by confining myself to this one forum I have time to help keep this place free of this problem. kinkinkijkin Wrote:Simple miswrite; "'Single-Core Performance' does not refer to how the CPU performs when only one core is loaded, in this context", it should say, or something similar. kinkinkijkin Wrote:The "in this context" bit from the last one is sort of important for understanding my garbled sleep-english here. These are not context sensitive terms at all. kinkinkijkin Wrote:I seriously have no idea what could be split of in per-game hacks. And, well, I'm not an expert on emulation by any means, as you can tell. Ok then. If you don't know then please don't make the claim. kinkinkijkin Wrote:You're thinking of it backwards. Also, "in a processor" is a little bit more sleep-english. kinkinkijkin Wrote:Sleep-memory seeping through; forgot IPC was final and real. kinkinkijkin Wrote:also, keep in mind that I'm very tired right now, so there might be slips in this post as well, which I acknowledge kinkinkijkin Wrote:I was tired. You keep seeing this every time I refute anything you say. Either it's an excuse to end the conversation without having to admit that you made something up without checking if it was true or you're genuinely constantly sleep deprived. If it's the former please quite it. If it's the latter get some god damn sleep! Also negative font sizes do not exist. kinkinkijkin Wrote:I wish you would've understood what I was actually TRYING to say with these a little bit more, then you wouldn't have had to over-quote me in a post denouncing peoples' intelligence. There's really only two or three things in there of note that wouldn't have been fixed by some slight leniency towards logical inconsistency when context clues point that they may have been one-time mistakes, on your part. In fact, if you're going to openly denounce someone on a logical mistake in a sentence, I'd suggest you understand what the sentence is meant to say, instead of only what it actually does say. This would probably help you with your faith in humanity problem, and might help me not have to deal with your insistence on acting as if every inaccuracy, even those of sleight, to pass my fingers into a post make me an idiot. Oh come on! Think about what you just said for a minute. Like AON3 said this defeats the entire point of human languages, to communicate through a system of formal rules and words with definitions. You can't just make up random rules and definitions and expect people to not know exactly what you're trying to say. And you can't really criticize them when they correct you. I'm not asking people to be able to write like an author here. In fact I don't have any issues with your spelling or grammar at all. I just want people to use terms correctly, research what they say if they're unsure, and think things through before they post. I honestly don't think that's an unreasonable request. And for the record I never called you an idiot. Zee530 Wrote:^^You don't know NV very much, do you? Neither do you. What are you trying to imply here? dolphinfan505 Wrote:NV you're right. I'm slowing losing faith in people knowing about computers at all. Speaking of which NV is basically one of the biggest members on the forums... I don't really care if there are lots of people that don't know anything about computers. I just hate when people make up random shit, post it as truth, and then nobody corrects them. That genuinely pisses me off. This is not directed at kin in case that's not clear. kinkinkijkin Wrote:Saying that as possible rationalisation for his slight overreaction is like saying that Justin Bieber is allowed to break laws because he's famous. I don't think you thought that analogy through completely. Bieber does break the law and get away with it. As do many other famous people. I agree with you though you shouldn't give a shit who I am. The only thing that counts is the words posted, not who is saying them.

Um quick question is my new pc good enough to run dolphin
Amd Athlon X II X2 270 3.4 ghz 4 gb ram geforce gt 620 1gb 02-17-2014, 09:34 AM
Possibly, if you overclock the CPU hard, and also only play Wind Waker, and are okay with turning the settings all of the way down to speed.

Not bulldozer. If you're going to dip as low as AMD for dolphin, don't. But, if you still have to, Phenom II or Vishera. Bulldozers are among the weakest still-available processors.
But please don't buy an AMD CPU for dolphin.

senor derp of herp Wrote:Um quick question is my new pc good enough to run dolphin This is the equivalent of asking "is my PC good enough for PC gaming?". There are a lot of games. Each of which is completely different in every way including how demanding they are. The more appropriate question would be "is my PC fast enough for X game?". So which games are you interested in playing?

Annnndddd I have none of those. Better hope somebody with those games sees this.
If I had to guess I would lean towards "no, you need a faster cpu".
