Um , typo again Tongue
If you buy Ivy Bridge CPU , please stay away from H61 mobo
H61 mobo is made for Sandy Bridge CPU , it won't work with Ivy Bridge CPU unless you update bios . Warning : Not all H61 mobo have bios update for Ivy Bridge CPU -> B75 mobo is the safe bet

GTX 650 is cheap , faster , latest GPU (Kepler 28nm) and run cooler
As for PSU , this one will do

Didn't know about the H61 issue. Thanks!

Current System: NetBook
OS: Windows 7 - x64
CPU: Dual Intel® Atom™ CPU N455 @1.66GHz
GPU: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150
RAM: 2GB

Each time I try and play Pokemon Colleseum it pops up with an error like this (createpixelshaderfrombytecode failed at src d3dshader.cpp 84) and it wont let me play. Any ideas how to fix it?

That Netbook is worthless for anything but browsing the internet. If you wish to use an emulator like this, you need to buy a decent PC.
Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked)

first of all, that cpu will never run dolphin well; Starscream is right. Try project 64, that will run well. Upgrade to a better computer if the GameCube is in your emulation window Big Grin.
PC Specs
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 8GB 2400MHz DDR4

400 series atom processors are all single core.

This IGP is not supported by dolphins d3d9 video backend and that is why you are getting that error message. Switching the video backend to openGL may allow you to run dolphin but like starscream said you won't be able to reach playable performance levels.

So uh... do we truly know yet how Vishera/Piledriver performs in Dolphin? In particular how it would compare to some other CPUs, such as a Phenom II and/or a Sandy Bridge Pentium?

GPU: Intel integrated
RAM: 4x4GB Corsair Vengence @ DDR3-1600

No. We have no benchmarking data using dolphin. We can at best make safe assumptions using benchmarking data from other applications with similar code profiles.

We know that it's slower than an i5/i7 sandy/ivy bridge cpu for sure because all applications that aren't very highly multithreaded perform more poorly on zambezi/vishera. It's safe to assume that dolphin does not contain any magic that causes the architectures efficiency to suddenly shoot through the roof compared to so many other applications.

Vishera is faster than phenom II across the board so we can assume that the same is true of dolphin.

As for comparing it against i3/pentium that would depend on the settings as well as which specific models you're comparing.

So basically... you don't know any more about the performance than I do.

Great. -_-

BTW, you didn't need to explain it's performance relative to other CPUs in regards to general PC performance & benchmarks, I already was aware of that (since it's launch in October in fact). Though I didn't clarify that I knew this, so perhaps I should have stated so...

Well what more do you need to know? We know enough to rank the family in a categorized list such as this one. Just not enough to compare specific numbers on specific models (which is not what the OP is about anyways).

Ironically our attempts to convince forum users not to buy them prevent us from acquiring the data needed to prove to them why they shouldn't buy it. I guess we could try and trick a few of them into thinking they're good for benchmarking purposes Tongue.
