dolphin bar ir pointer not working

can open games just fine and play wii sports tennis and such but I can't use the ir pointer.

Are the IR lights on in the dolphin bar? Use a digital camera and see if you can see light coming from the bar.

Make sure you are pointing using the Wii remote from a good distance. A meter or two should be fine.
