Dolphin and Intel's Turbo Boost

This thread is not about overclocking i7's and the performance gain you will see when it's overclocked. That is the question that is off-topic and the question you answered. Are you purposely not seeing that fact or do you just not understand the real question?

Turbo boost is only for i5's and i7 series processors so that's an invalid comment. This is very relevant. The topic title is

To OP: Actually affinity is your friend. Turbo boost decreases in efficiency the more cores are used. The less cores are used the more effective TB will be.
Select dolphin's affinity in task manager and only use core 0 and 1 (or if you disable hypethreading then 1/2), see if tb will push the frequency up.

Uncheck all boxes except 2.
And enable dc in dolphin.

You can also go to BIOS during boot, then select advanced settings, then cpu, and change "All" (or 4 cores in some bios) to "2 cores".

1) I don't mind if someone gets some use out of this topic. I don't think there's anyway to do what I asked in this topic so if someone else can be helped by it so be it.

2) Setting the affinity for Dolphin doesn't really do anything more than what it normally does. Windows still uses 1% or 2% of the other cores which lowers the turbo boost. I guess there's just no way to do it. No problem though. My computer is fast enough for what I need at 2.8Ghz. Thanks for trying to help guys!

which cores are you setting in the task manager? try two that are not next to each other

No. This game is a GC one. What's more, dumping games is'nt allowed : it's a forgery offense, since "private copy" is DEFINITELY NOT a right but an exception.
Yeah you're not allowed dump, rip or copy anything without the author's explicit permission; otherwise, you're simply breaking the law.
If Dolphin was able to directly read Wii/GC discs, then emulation would be perfectly legal.

Setting the affinity across all processes on your PC, not just for Dolphin, would seem like it might accomplish what you need. I'm guessing the performance benefit isn't worth the trouble though.
