Dolphin and AMD Fusion

its is apparent to me that fusion is simply a budget mobile processor architecture. it isn't designed to take the pc enthusiast community by storm but, rather offer a low cost, low power cpu/gpu combination for netbooks/notebooks. with the codename zacate cpu having a frequency of 1.6 ghz and only two cores, it looks like the cpu will actually perform slower than phenoms. having said that, these cpus will no doubt be a viable alternative to intel's atom architecture.

i think the person is just chatting for the sake of doing so. it was posted in the general discussion section, after all, which exists so that people can post random questions or information. at least this person didn't know what the performance was gonna be. at least he didnt ask a retarded question like if a sandy bridge was good or not.

I ask the question because I think devs knows the answer because it means just to say if Dolphin processes a significant quantity of vectorial instructions so that Fusion can to do the difference with your probable future desktop version. It would be like Dolphin running under, like, a CUDA plataform...

To date, AMD is 2 generations behind Intel =] Let just hope that bulldozer would give amd fan something to talk about or at least comparable to the first gen of Core i7...

I dont think amd fans are under the impression that their cpus are any faster. this new fusion technology isnt going to be faster than phenom II's, just much more efficient, and budgetary.

If there's anything to test in Dolphin, it'd be that - the integrated graphics. If I recall, from comparing benchmarks on Tom's Hardware, the lowest-end Fusion graphics are a bit slower than the HIGHEST-end Sandy Bridge graphics.

Now you should understand what I mean by that. You're confusing brazos with amd fusion. Brazos is one chip of many labeled under the marketing term "AMD fusion" all of which are designed for completely different purposes. Brazos was designed for ultra-mobile platforms to compete with intels atom and nvidias ion platform. As a desktop user you should be looking at llano and trinity. Saying "AMD fusion" is like saying "pentium". Their have been/will be a lot of cpus under that name since it's just a marketing term.

Hey, I used it correctly. I said the lowest-end Fusion graphics - that would be the Radeon 6310 included with Brazos.

At least, it's CURRENTLY the lowest-end Fusion graphics. I wouldn't be surprised if it stays that way, seeing how it's supposed to be an "Atom smasher".

EDIT: Just checked Tom's Hardware's review and it was a Zacate APU, which is the SECOND to lowest-end. Still, that's pretty impressive.

OK so it's more than a bit, but that's still a very good showing for such a low-end Fusion part, especially since it's within spitting distance of the Core i5-2500K (the highest-end Sandy Bridge Core i5).
