The title itself might be self explanatory, but since yesterday while playing dolphin, my **entire** PC will randomly freeze then crash at uncommon, but random times (it's been starting to happen since yesterday.) I'm not sure what was the cause of it, since it was working fine with no freezes/crashes at all whatsoever. Did a fresh reinstall of Dolphin and its contents, it's been happening again. What's happening? Any possible solution?

Might sound farfetched but what are you CPU temps? In the past, people would play Dolphin, and raise the heat inside their PCs until freezes/crashes happened. Wasn't uncommon with bad cooling (either clutter/dust inside the case or wear and tear on some stuff like the thermal paste used for the CPU).

Try using a development build instead of 5.0 if your temperatures look fine. Using something newer might help. In all honesty, I'd wager some of these "random" times when Dolphin suddenly stops working might be the fault of some automatic software that updates in the background (probably Windows?), so it might be an OS issue as well.

My CPU temperatures are fine, I run this program called ThrottleStop which boosts my performance (by a tad bit), no problems whatsoever. And no, Windows Update isn't doing anything, I "disabled" it by making my connection metered. It's also worth noting that the development version isn't really a good alternative IMO, considering that it stutters/runs slower at higher IRs than the stable version.

The big question is: do the development revisions crash/freeze or not? If no, then it seems like you'll have to compromise on higher resolutions in order to play. There really shouldn't be anything in 5.0 itself that causes games to freeze/crash if you haven't touched any settings. The only thing I can think of would be something wrong with the shader cache (you can delete that if you want, games will stutter as the cache rebuilds, but you can see if that fixes freezes/crashes). Beyond that, the problem is definitely external to Dolphin.

I guess I'll try deleting the caches. I'll get back to you if the solution is solved or not.
