Apologies if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find a thread about it other than an unanswered reddit post, so I figured I'd try here.

So, I never really noticed this until I went to play Metroid Prime and listen to a podcast at the same time, but if I have Dolphin 5.0 open at all, even without a game running, even with inbound and outbound firewall blocks on the executable, having Dolphin 5.0 or later open just kills my internet speed. I recently tried Dolphin 4.0.2 to see if that would fix the problem, and indeed it did not have that problem. I am running on Wi-Fi, and can't test on ethernet because my router is in a pretty dumb spot, but my Wi-Fi adapter is the Broadcom 802.11ac according to device manager. If this is incorrect (I don't know a whole lot about network adapters, only the basics), then let me know and I'll do a bit more digging.

I attempted to make a video showcasing the problem, but for some reason, as soon as I go to record it happening it works fine for the most part. It shows up at about 20 seconds in, but usually it's more severe than that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnFflvTAHto&feature=youtu.be

If you need any more information, let me know, and i'll be happy to supply more. Thanks so much in advance.

This issue has been reported in the past IIRC. It is very likely to be something wrong with your drivers and there's probably nothing Dolphin can do to solve the problem, unfortunately.

There is a sure way to tell (and probably to avoid the issue too). If the issue doesn't happen on Linux, then it's definitely the drivers.

I don't remember what the outcome of the previous issue report was, but if you can't test with Linux, have you tried disabling all of the USB and Bluetooth features? These are most likely to trigger issues on Windows.

I'm experiencing the same problem, with dolphin 5.0-12247 open (no game running) the internet speed drops and feels completely dead from time to time.

Wi-fi 2.4Ghz:
* Dolphin open: down 0,56-11,92 Mbit/s and up 13,32-15,08 Mbit/s and 5,21-7,48 ms (varying speed, extremely slow from time to time)
* Dolphin closed: down 52,1 Mbit/s and up 63,72 Mbit/s and 5,50 ms

Ethernet cable connected:
* Dolphin open: down 95,29 Mbit/s and up 91,43 Mbit/s and 4,52 ms
* Dolphin closed: down 95,24 Mbit/s and up 89,29 Mbit/s and 4,49 ms

Speed test done at the following website: http://www.bredbandskollen.se/

According to ISP i should have 100/100 connection speed

"solution":

Turns out that turning off the following in controllers setting solved the problem
* Emulate the Wii's Bluetooth adapter

More specifically, turning off the
* Continuous Scanning
