Dolphin 5.0 lag whilst rendering new VFX

The game lags from time to time whenever it displays a new visual effect;
For example, I pick a new ability as Kirby, and when I use a special attack, it lags for like 1-2 seconds then works 100% fine when I use the attack again (no longer lags).
It's really annoying when entering new areas, especially in a boss fight, since bosses have a lot of VFXs.
It didn't use to be like this in 4.0 but 5.0 is much much better than 4.0 in game performance.

Shaders have to be compiled for each new effect. Dolphin caches these shaders so if they are loaded again they load much faster. The cache doesn't work between versions.

Well, you can always try the Ishiiruka version of Dolphin wich has Async Shader Compilation, so you can avoid the stutters. The trade-off is that it will give you a black screen, or not display the effect correctly since it is not waiting for shader to compile, like with the master buid, once it compiles the shader it will display properly afterwards. Also Ichiiruka is more hack friendly whereas the master buid is more faithful to its console counterpart. Here is the link if you want to check it out. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-un...om-version

Ishiiruka is less stable than Dolphin proper, but it has access to things that are excluded from Dolphin for being too hacky (like async shader computation). Flickering blackness is hardly a proper solution for shader compilation stuttering.

Nitpicking, but this doesn't make much sense. A PR is not something that can be implemented.

"wait for ubershaders to be implemented"
or
"wait for the ubershaders PR to be merged"

Also, I doubt it was better in 4.0. It's probably because the shader cache is invalidated every time you use a different revision, so shaders that were cached in 4.0 are not cached anymore, and they now need to be compiled before they're cached again.

You are right, Ichiiruka is way less stable than the master Build. As for the flickering darkness with async shaders, it may be not a solution but it may give you the chance for a fluid gameplay. I'm not suggesting that Ichiiruka is better by any means, but seeing that he is annoyed by something Dolphin is very well known for, Ichiiruka might be the answer for him(or not). The other solution at the time being is to dust out the console counterpart and have a go.
