Using Dolphin 5.0-fca56d5-dirty in OpenGL the game will freeze after a minute or two, depends on the game.  If I use Vulkan, the games don't freeze.  Currently using Mint 18 with 4.14 kernel installed and using a AMD Radeon HD 7850 with Oibaf PPA and AMDGPU.

Probably a driver / distro issue.

Does it repro with the shipping mint mesa? The ppa appears to be pulling in the head of mesa's git, so will be completely untested and likely have issues (that is, after all, what the development head is for).

It also claims to offer "optimized" drivers, which always fills me with dread....

Anyway to see a log that shows what's going on?

Probably attaching a debugger to the process and seeing what the render thread is doing when it's "frozen" would be useful.

Along with trying with a driver that people are actually willing to support, of course.
